Hello!
Thanks for the biggest compliment!
In fact I was one of those 35, 000 spectators.
You are right, Kaze has great talent and the live show was created with love by Kaze and the best musicians, staff and audience.

But it is also true that taking pictures with cell phones is strictly restricted in Japan.

At this concert, only one song, "Grace, " was allowed to be filmed, and almost everyone was filming with their cell phones at that time 😆.
At the end of the song, Kaze said, "It's time for you to put your cell phones away". We all obeyed because we love and respect Kaze💖.

Please take a look at the music video for "Matsuri" as well.
Don't miss the live performance of "I'd rather die" at the Budokan.

Finally you found Fujii Kaze. He is a great singer songwriter and awesome pianist . All of his MV and Live performance are so good. I recommend Workin’ Hard MV and Shinunoga E Wa and Nan Nan live version at Nippon Budokan. You can see his awesome piano technique.

Please watch all of his music video, every piece is so different and precious. He's not just an out-of-earth artist with beautiful voice, playing funky jazz improvisation, writing genius lyrics or dance so aptly to his music, but most charming part is his innocent character, he looks so cool but at the same time so CUTE because of the way he behave. The messages in his music are always very thought-provoking & deep. He has huge fans base consisting young, old, men, women in Japan & overseas😊

It's amazing how you read everything from this video. Indeed, Fuji Kaze is a genius pianist and he seems to me to be one of those geniuses who are super witty in a broader sense. I discovered him a few days ago and I would like to get to know him better through your reactions

There is still a trend in Japan that basically it is prohibited to take pictures during live performances. This miraculous live was held during the coronavirus pandemic, and people were promised to wear masks, but Fujii wanted everyone to feel free for one song, "Grace, " and allowed filming with cell phones. did. It was a beautiful and precious time.
If you want to know the current Fujii style,
Please listen to "Workin' Hard". He continues to evolve to become a world-class artist.

Wow. You unpacked a lot from this performance (cant blame you, it does give people a lot to unpack), which makes your reaction a lot to unpack itself. But imma try anyway. Lol. Fair warning, it's gonna get long.

1. Phone cameras are prohibited at most live shows in JP. If they aint, rest assured the JP audience would have their phones out just like everyone else lol. But they do tend to respect the rules so they dont need to check their phones at the door. If I have to name one thing that makes them different from most other audience, though, it's the fact that they don't sing along much, or at least not loudly. Can be a good thing or bad or both or neither. It really depends.

If you checked other professionally recorded live performances by JP artists in JP, you should see pretty much the same spectacle as this.

Phone cameras were allowed during his recent tour outside of JP though so you'll see a lot of fancams for those. 😆 Even for this show, cameras were allowed for one song. But everyone put their phones away after the song ended. I dont imagine that'd be the case for overseas audience, even if they were politely requested to.

2. Guy aint pushy or forcefeed-y with his marketing, so those who find out about him will find out about him if they're meant to, usually through Youtube or streaming services (e.g.: Spotify, Apple Music, etc) algorithms.

And yes, the number of people you see here are people who discovered him on their own and who fell in love with his music on their own terms. Basically a strong yet gentle wind blew their way, just like it just did yours. ;)

Oh and the number of people you see here are only the ones who managed to score tix. The stadium capacity is between 35-40k and the show was for two nights so we're looking at 70k+ people total. Not quite half a billion (lol) but not a small amount either. But the number who applied for tix were apparently about 9x more than that, or so I heard it was reported (JP shows held by in-demand performers usually have this lottery system to prevent scalping—if youre interested to know more, you should be able to find ample info on the internet).

3. He's the sole songwriter of his music and excels at piano and sax arrangement. But the full band arrangements are usually done by Yaffle, the guy you see on the keyboard here, who also produced his first two albums, with lots of ideas and input from Kaze. But most of the heavy lifting when it comes to sound production was done by this guy.

The stage direction of his live shows have so far mostly all been done by this professional video director who goes by the professional name Dutch (real name Kento Yamada) with, far as I can tell, more input from Kaze's manager than from Kaze himself (the manager's the one who's always thinking of ways to best present Kaze to the audience and he's always wanted to do something huge and flashy like this lol). Dutch is also the director behind some of his MVs (as well as a bunch of other artists').

Kaze is hardworking but he's not the mastermind when it comes to full presentation. He seems to prefer to take things easy and keep things simple, if given the choice 😆. He has a small but great team of people who adore him and understand him (possibly better than he does himself at times) behind him. He's an awe-inspiring, once-in-a-lifetime musician and live performer but his overall excellent branding and professional presentation are thanks to his team's effort.

But, yes he's very genuine and honest all around, and it reflects in his music and performances as well. His talent is such that he can pull off jawdropping acoustic performances with just himself and his piano. What we see here is him with a full band, backing track and a full stage setup that spared little to no expenses. But his true measure is best seen through his simple one-man performances. Imho, you ain't truly seen him perform yet till you've seen one of those.

4. I used to think the same as you, that it's better for there to not be any cameras at live performances. But I've also since come to think that theres something to be said about fancams, especially for those who want to experience the concert but can't, and for those of us who want to relive it again after it's over.

5. All of Kaze's mvs and most of his live performances come with subs (the EN ones are provided by the guy himself) so I'd recommend turning on the captions if you're curious as to what he's singing about. His lyrics are a huge part of his music.

Hope I covered everything. Looking fwd to hopefully seeing more of your reactions to this guy because he's a real treat to the senses and you seem to be the sort to really enjoy this sorta thing. :)

P/S: The drummer's name is Norihide Saji. Arabic expressions sure are something else 😂

Thank you for picking a Japanese song.
FUJII KAZE is one of Japan's great artists.
Even though you don't have any information about FUJIIKAZE, you have a sharp sensitivity that makes you feel the greatness of FUJIIKAZE's musicality.
Japan's music industry has long been the second largest market after the United States .Japan has a wide variety of music, songs, and artists. and Japanese music is very diverse.
Until recently, Japanese artists had a language barrier and the Japanese domestic market was too big(The Japan music market is the second biggest in the world, ) so they were not actively selling overseas, that's why most of the artists are not known outside of Japan, However, with the development of Youtube videos and subtitles, language barriers are disappearing. so there are still great finds.
Another thing that may be helpful. In Japanese music, lyrics are an integral part of the song. They are quintessential. Recently, Japanese music videos seem to have English subtitles for the lyrics. You may find it more enjoyable to listen to the song with English subtitles (CC) but Not all Japanese song lyrics are translated but you may them interesting.
l recommend FUJIIKAZE-SHINU NOGA IIWA ( Live at NIPPON BUDOUKAN (2020))
