Another Hospital Stay… broken but NOT Defeated!

This is not our first rodeo…not by any means. But this time around has been different. We have been more disheartened, discouraged, afraid & frustrated than we have been in a LONG time. The words to this song kept coming to my head this week as I thought about all of you & how much you have lifted us during this trial:

“I’ve stood on this stage night after night
Reminding the broken it’ll be alright
But right now, oh right now I just can’t
It’s easy to sing
When there’s nothing to bring me down
But what will I say
When I’m held to the flame
Like I am right now”

Social Media is our “stage” & we have reminded ourselves this week of the faith, hope & positivity we try to spread on here. Thank you all for your prayers and reminders. God is amazing. He is faithful. He has a plan & we are trying to be patient and see the good in all things. We are home & resting today. Thank you for your love and continued prayers. 💜🙏🏻

I had a hip replacement surgery in 2021 that became infected. I went into sepsis no less then six times. Finally I had what is called an “internal amputation”. What happens is that the hip is removed along with most of my femur bone. So holding my leg to me physically is just the flesh and tendons and muscle. Let me say this, I had pain in the leg that made me scream but it was NOTHING, I REPEAT, NOTHING compared to this gentleman. Also, like him, I have a wonderful lady, I’ve loved her since high school. We have been married now for 37 years. We are both in our early 60s but she takes damn good care of me. I do keep her at arms length because the infection would actually leak out of the huge surgical area on my right leg. She is my true angel. The only pain I have seen rival anything like this gentleman here has is when my wife gave birth to our two kids, which she did with no pain medication of any kind, all natural, the other was when my mother passed in 1986 due to breast cancer that had metastasized throughout her body. She only cried once with it but my mother, like my wife is now, a BOSS when dealing with pain. Wheelchairdad, it hurts me so much to see a guy like you with such a wonderful and loving wife and kids, to truly have to go through this pure agony. I’ll pray for you and your wonderful family.

I am so very sorry for this hell you are going thru. I have been in your shoes (run-over by a school bus at 8 yrs old. Bus shattered my pelvis and pulled the nerves out of my spine. My right leg is paralyzed but have nerve pain, phantom pain. I
was not supposed to live but I did.) It's hard to believe but come 4/28/25 marks my 50th anniversary. Dan, I've gone through a lot of what you are dealing with, infections, operations and pain. You are a strong man and you have an amazing support system with your wife and children. Please hang in there and know that you also have the support of all your viewers. You and your family are in my prayers.
