Similar to the line rating, don't you also want to make sure the drag rating for the reel is capable of loading up the rod? If the reel can only handle 5kgs of drag and you're putting it on a 20kg rod, then you won't be using the rod to it's full potential. If the drag rating for the reel is above the maximum load for the rod you will risk damaging the rod or breaking the line if you over tighten the drag. I only mention this because a larger reel, like a 6000 compared to a 3000, doesn't automatically have higher drag if they are different models.

Saying it won't work is ridiculous, is is optimal? No, but it will work, shit a spin reel will work on a baitcast rod in a pinch 😂
