Based on the comments, this seems like news to most of us. To any parents reading this: is this something covered/mentioned by your doctor while pregnant?

I'm glad they covered this. There was a couple on the news somewhat recently. The mother mixed her breast milk with water. I'm assuming she wasn't producing enough. And the baby died shortly after. Pretty sure they were both arrested.

Good grief how is this not common knowledge?
Ok so while we're on the subject, dont give babies:
1) Cow's milk (can cause kidney damage)
2) Honey (can cause paralysis)
3) Solid food that isn't diced into pea-sized bits (choking hazard)
4) Nuts, seeds, hard candies, peanut butter* (also a choking hazard)
*Edit: peanut butter itself is a choking hazard, but it might be wise to expose infants to peanut _protein_ between 4-6 months to avoid a peanut allergy, talk to your pediatrician for more info.

Weird, I remember PSA's warning parents not to give their babies sugar water because it would rot the new teeth that were coming in. No mention of being bad in other ways. I never gave anything other than formula anyway.
