I don't know if I would call her "villainous", but I could see why some would say that. In the book, fairies are described as being so small, that they can only feel one emotion at a time. So, if she were to feel jealousy, it would quite literally be all consuming.

She’s a pint-sized little sociopath and so is Peter Pan. If she hadn’t been banished for a week she would have made sure Tiger Lily drowned while Pan went screwing around with Captain Hook (who is far more a sympathetic character with a legitimate reason)

I have a theory where instead of her being jealous she is mad because wendy is trying to take them away from neverland and they would eventually forget about fairies and a fairy is born from a babys first laugh and if the kid says they don't believe then the fairy drops dead so I believe that Tink was just trying to protect her friends and her sister (since her and her sister was born from the same laugh) and the reason she is so protective over Peter is because Peter is the human who brought her and her sister into existence and I also believe that the lost boys are also connected to the other fairy friends. And there is a saying that a fairy can only feel one emotion since their so small so they feel it strongly. So if wendy takes them to the regular world then they will most likely die.

One thing I don't understand is that in her own movies, Tink is a good, loyal person (or rather fairy..) while here she's a little bratty.

In the book, pixies are described as being so small that their bodies can only feel one emotion at a time. So, if she is mad or jealous, that's the only emotion she can feel until something happens to change that.
The use of tinkerbell in the original material is all around creepy and sexist. When she is behaving, she is described as a voluptuous girl in a revieling outfit. When she is upset, she is described as a tiny woman.
It relates all of her good attributes to girlhood and all of her bad ones to womanhood. On top of that, if tink is a woman, then why is she in love with a little boy?
Don't get me wrong, I love tinkerbell! Shes one of my absolute favorites, but disney had to do a lot of course correction with her character over the years.

This version of Tinkerbell is still leagues better than whatever the hell Tinkerbell was in that soulless live action remake had. This version actually had a personality.
