MY SOCIAL MEDIA:

Do you want to improve your pronunciation? I have launched my British English (Modern RP) pronunciation course! I’ll train you to read phonetic transcriptions, and produce each sound that comprises modern received pronunciation. I’ll also teach you how to implement the correct use of intonation, stress, rhythm, connected speech, and much more. We’ll compare similar sounds, and look at tricky topics like the glottal stop and the dark L.
Technically, I need to mark this as an AD even though it is my own company so - AD :)

You know you are fluent when you start forgetting your native language and start reaching for words because your own language does not have the same words and expressions the second language does.

There is also this one: when you cannot remember if the thing you have read/heard/seen was in your native language or the other one

When you're thinking in another language and not your native language

You know you are kinda fluent when you are listening to this video and reading comments at the same time and still being able to understand both

I'm more fluent in English than in my native language, Hindi lol.
And another indicator is: you can argue in a language only if you're fluent in it.

You know you’re fluent when you hear or see the mistakes that native speakers do🤨😅

You know you’re fluent in English when people around you depend on you to translate it for them.

Edit: omg thank you so much guys for the like. Happy Holidays everyone! 💙🥺👉🏻👈🏻

13. I'd add one: when you can't remember the word in your native language, but remember it in foreign one)

You know you are fluent, when you can read any book in foreign language and understand everything, even when you don’t know exactly some specific words, you just understand it in context.

13. When you forget a word in your own language, but you know how to say it in the language youre learning.

14. When you mix your native and your 2nd language.
Example: Just a few weeks ago I asked my mom if she could get me some orange juice, but I said half of the sentence in my native and then I said 'orange juice' in English without even thinking about it... I only realized what happened when my mom laughed at me...

my problem is that i can understand literally everything, i watch movies without the subtitles, read books and articles, write without even focusing on what i'm actually writing, but when it comes to speaking, i just can't express myself, i reach for words and it feels like i completely forgot all of them
it's so annoying

You know you're fluent when you're better than your english teacher

Edit : thanks for the likes. I didn't know a lot of people had bad English teachers 😅

Sometimes I feel like the English voice in my head is way more fluent than I am XD I had some situations where I had to use English out of nowhere and my vocabulary seems to get much worse in these kind of situations!

I think another sign that you are fluent in a language is when you stop worrying that something you say or write might be wrong
