Why Do Artists Get Depressed?

I've been super bummed out for the past few weeks and it's been super hard for me to do just about anything, aside from watching Netflix with my dogs.

Why is it that creative people tend to get more depressed than most other folks? How did they get anything done? And why is it important to feel sad from time to time?

Lots of love to all my friends who are struggling with bad vibes too.

SONGS USED:
World War Me by the King and Queen of the Losers
Fox by Heccra
Home Again from Night in the Woods OST
Cabin in the Attic by Heccra

There's a Maaaario song in there but I don't want to give Nintendon't any credit since they're chumps who screw over YouTubers.

When Van Gogh is like *"Van NOOO!"* I cannot express through words how much I strangely love that bit.

"You spend the most time with your self"

Oh thanks for reminding me that I have no friends!

I get that whole 'seasonal depression' thing, and I hate it, but I find forcing myself to do things (like go on walks, shower everyday, talk to friends etc) help a lot, even when I don't want to do anything.

You pointed out exactly my question: how do depressed artists get stuff done? It's literally my question of the decade. It's just so difficult.

I'm 18 and I'm a senior in high school, and I know nothing about proper adulting. Like, I know nothing about credit, debit, insurance, car payments, any kind of payments and I know nothing of those sorts of things.
Today I was heavily freaking out, and so I decided to just sit down with hot coco and watch your video and it really helped. It helped me feel like things aren't going to explode (in a bad way) when I graduate
So thank you, it really lifted me up :')

Well, a lot of artists who suffer from depression deal with that depression by making art and using the art (music, painting or whatever) to express their inner feelings. It actually helps, I speak from experience.

Your dreams are beautiful. I'm stuck in a cycle of suicide attempts, depressive and manic episodes, binge eating, purging, starving and over exercising. I just want to graduate with good A-levels and go to university for performing arts to study dance and physical theatre and have a shitty apartment. I'm trying to break this shit cycle but I can't escape.

I can relate. I'm not emo or anything but when I start writing my ideas I Start getting side tracked and think what if nothing is real what if that simulation theory is true. And then I get negatively created and start thinking of ways that nothing could be real

Yikes, I've been binge-watching your videos and I honestly can't help but feel happy and inspired each time you upload.

Like dude, you're amazing and damn I wish I grew up with you. You set off those kind of vibes since you're an overall cool guy.

This video hit way too close to home but in a good way. No matter how cheesy it is, it made me feel a whole lot better and it's all thanks to you.

Thank you, Nate Burr. Maybe you're not so lame.

Yo I think my sessional depression is actually during the summer time. Without schoolwork keeping me busy I have a LOT more time to myself, which isn't usually a great thing. It's like a really sick symbiotic relationship.
