How Did Bellatrix And Sirius Survive Azkaban?

To me, the reason why both Sirius and Bellatrix were able to stay sane in Azkaban was because they both held onto an Unshakable Truth; an unwavering fact in the face of all their misery and mental torment that the Dementors couldn't take from them. For Sirius, it was that he never committed the crimes he was accused of and that at the very least Peter was dead( until he found out later.) Bellatrix, on the other hand, knew without a doubt that when the Dark Lord rose again, that he would come to set her free. Like the power of faith, it was with these truths that both Sirius and Bellatrix kept their minds in Azkaban and gave them the will to eventually escape.

I think another way Sirius was able to survive was because he didn’t really have many good memories for the dementors to feed off of

I think Serius himself said something about knowing he was innocent which was frustrating but it gave him that hope.

Bellatrix got a trial because Crouch's son was in that group and Crouch was the person in charge of trials. Sirius on the other hand wasn't closely related to anyone of importance at the time and people believed he was Voldy's second in command.

It’s always pissed me off that 4 death eaters got a trial and Sirius didn’t. Not to mention that Buckbeak (a hippogriff!!) got a trial and Sirius did not

I strongly believe Sirius survived Azkaban because he was innocent he could focus on it and it wasn't a happy memory so it couldn't be fed off of it was more of an obsession i think.

When you were talking about why Sirius didn't get a trial but Bellatrix, Rodolfus, Rabastan (I think that's his name anyway) and Crouch Jr did, is because Crouch Sr wanted to show the wizarding world that he despised everyone and everything associated with the dark arts regardless whether or not one of them was his own son. I think Sirius actually said in goblet of fire the book, it wasn't much of a trial as an excuse for Crouch to show how much he hates the boy. Awesome theory as always though man and they're probably the most logical and make the most sense out of everyone else's. Hope you're good and keeping safe. Nox
