I'm french and the first thing my family did we t they learned the germans where coming is.
1) hide all the good guns and only keep the old fucked up one. (They confiscated guns everywhere they go.)
2) send the eldest son to the hills with the horses and set them free. (Germans really struggled with the french terrains where I live it's full of harsh cliff)
3) basically take the whole tractor appart abd scatter the pieces into the woods.

Worked well but they hid the guns in the house that's the Germans choose to makes they're outpost... So they couldn't get em back for like... 3 years I think. Good plan tho.

Britain watching what's happening in France: "bloody hell. That could take, what, a fortnight to fix? I better dismantle my bicycle."

I imagine the British just going about their days, refusing to acknowledge the overtake and the Germans are like "Acknowledge me, damn it!"

In Britain, the street names and road signs were all taken down too, so that any invading soldiers or downed airmen wouldn't know exactly where they were. Slowing their progress.

Read "eating the invader" and thought that's one way to take care of them

I like how they changed many of the broadcaster who used the RP accent with scouse, Geordi, & Brummy ones so the Germans would have a hard time sending out false information since they’d be very hard to fake, but they were natural to Brit’s

Its important to note that from the outbreak of war the UK was being turned into a fortress island to the point where the end goal was to have so many gun emplacements in the southern coast we could entirely lose the royal navy (which had been blocking all nazi advances and probes) and still not have a serious concern.

The British plan was to effectively stall the war so that while we may never beat Germany they would never beat us, and thats because very few people beleived America would join the war, much less join the close to defeat allies

Here are some tips from a fellow Ukrainian who never left the country since the invasion:

1. Watch and analyze the news. Don't listen to just one person, listen to the greatest optimists and pessimists.

2. Be prepared for the worst-case scenario. In Ukraine, everyone knows what to do and how to survive a nuclear attack, although basically everyone thinks it's unlikely.

3. If your country is under the risk of invasion, please evacuate BEFORE the actual invasion happens. If the risk is high, go to a safer place, care for your children.

4. Have all the documents ready and packed in case you need to flee. Have a backpack with high-calories food, and water, and first-aid kit.

5. If you are not going to flee because of some or the other reasons: have a shelter ready. Usually it's a basement. You need to not only have some food and water there, but also something to cook it on, some tea, blankets and sleeping bags and also some games! These could be board games or something like that. Sometimes you need to sit in the shelter for long periods if time, and it gets boring. I used to bring my ukulele to the basement to entertain my family.

6. Don't panic and trust your army. They know what they are doing. You can join them and get the professional training to feel more in control of the situation, or you can join the volunteer community and do something useful for the army or for the refugees.

7. Get to know your neighbours! They will be your community if your place of living is under shelling. It's easier to survive when there're tens of you, and everyone helps each other, knows something or has something useful.

8. Get stacked with batteries, flashlights, powerbanks, candles, accumulators, power generators, small solar energy systems. Keep them charged at all times. If there's blackout, you will be ready.

9. Find some alternative way to get connected to the Internet, or at least some means of communication. You will need to find out a lot of information on what's going on around. Make sure this means works in your shelter.

10. Report any suspicious characters. Even when they are your neighbours: if they are the ones who get paid to send information to the enemy, they are the ones who make bombs fly in your direction.

11. Turn off the light you don't use, turn off the location tracking on your phone, don't tell any information about anyone's location to anyone on your phone, especially not on WhatsApp. You can discuss your army's actions only when you are speaking in person. Never ever on your phone.

12. Don't post anything on social media!!! This is very important! Don't take photos of any of the military objects, of the bombings, of the fires, of the ruined buildings, just DON'T. The enemy will use this information to correct the coordinates and fire again! This is a huge one, because of this lots of people could have been alive today...

I’m Ukrainian, and the first thing my uncle did on 24th of February was to call his boss to ask whether he must come to the workplace in the morning

It's important to be hearing this from a British person. They are experts on the topic of invading other countries

If I remember correctly there were even resistance groups formed in England as a way to slow the Germans. If an invasion happened, certain people with specialized training would stay behind in well hidden little bunkers while everyone else is evacuating.

I remember the story of an elderly French woman who was evacuating early in the war and gave the key to her house to the British troops. When they protested she replied, “ In the last war when I evacuated I locked my house up and took the key away, when I came back the house was gone. This time I am leaving the key”

People sometimes forget that for a Time Britain stood alone against imperial Japan, Hitler's third Reich, and Mussolini's Italy. France was taken, and the molotov-ribbentrop pact held the Soviets at Bay. And there was a time they had to hold out before America entered the war, inevitably so because The tripartite pact was planning attacks that eventually culminated in Pearl harbor.

I've heard this referred to as Britain's darkest hour and Britain's finest hour but I'm American and don't really know how it's taught elsewhere in the world.

Estate agents in 1930s France used to boast if a house was "off invasion route" 😂.

You could also look into the auxiliaries or stay behinds groups of men usually in costal areas trained to cause mayhem in the enemies rear. They were given a 2 week life expectancy after activation, with list of people who would have to be ‘removed’ . They were stood down in 1943 and only officially counted and logged a year later before that only there local recruiter knew who they were. There was also MI 7 which trained others for long term resistance and intel gathering in occupied areas . The bunkers for both groups are occasional unearthed .

That's awesome. In Korea, every year we would go through what was called an NEO evacuation exercise. The NEO stands for Non-combatant Evacuation Operation.
We needed to keep important information kits in the event of an invasion... and the evacuation could include pets!

EDIT: This was in Seoul, where headquarters used to be located, which is actually in artillery range of North Korea, so the reasonable expectation of any evacuation in the event of a bombardment would be dicey. And, realistically, you're probably not taking your pet.
However, I went on a tour of the South Korean defenses at the border in the event of an invasion and I'll just say that NK would have a very hard time.
