I go through the steps I take to add stereo and overclock to a nes-101, aka top loader.
The composite and led mod steps are left out because that video is already done.

There are two sound outputs on the CPU... one carries the two square wave channels and the other carries all other sound. So although the games weren't designed for stereo sound, this mod does route different sounds through separate speakers.

I recently sent my NES-101 to be modded by GameTechUS. I can't recommend his services enough. The mod works perfectly. His turnaround was extremely fast. I also purchased a few games at a reasonable price. If you're interested in NES modding, I strongly suggest using GameTechUS.

I think that 0.025" diameter solder is the best all-around size for electronics work. When I worked in a PCB factory, that was our standard size for soldering in through-hole terminal blocks and for most rework. We also had 0.015" for fine-pitch soldering. We used Alpha Metals SMT Core Plus 63/37 solder, and Metcal STSS and MX-500 irons with an STTC-126 tip cartridge.

In the 80's mono was like the dolby surround of the 2000's, but these day's mono is very outdated, so with a stereo mod on the nes, your nes games will sound like fresh & new as if you play them for the first time, and if you hook it to a surroundset, it will turn that stereo signal into surround sound.

Nice, thank you for this excellent video!! Can this be applied in the same manner for an original NES as well? Is the circuit diagram the same?

Noticed on one of your other videos that use used a switch rather than the potentiometer for the stereo mod. What type switch did you use please?

Do you have any NES-101's unmodded for sale I love to tinker around and mod these old consoles plus the 101 is one of the only things I am looking for for my collection

Can you include a parts list and where you bought them from in the description? I am having problems finding the surface mount oscillators. Thanks.

Awesome except the hot glue, i think the potentiometer and switch will not last long.

I find little sense in using PN's sauce on the pot when you can just nut it tight against the console. Any reason why aside from stability?

+GameTechUS, what is the voltage of the 1 uF audio caps you are using? Also, do you have a part number for that surface mount oscillator?

I know this is an old video and this will be a dumb question. Will the led in the power button ever cause the redness to fade or dull in the button? Minor and does not matter to me whatsoever but just a random thought I had
