This is a variation of the AV mod, it uses a 3.5mm headphone style connector that mounts in the hole the RF jack used.

I just got my console back from GameTechUS. This mod, along with the stereo mod, work perfectly and it makes playing NES games even better.

So that's what it looks like to have all the proper tools for soldering.

That's tight. If I were going to do an AV mod, I'd definitely do it this way.

Any way to explain the leads on the phone jack? The diagram on Mouser doesn't say what A/V or ground is? Any help would be great. Your camera is kind of far away to tell where you hook up to otherwise I wouldn't ask

Just completed this mod not minutes ago! Works wonders. cant wait to show it off! I forgot to tape up the RF channel switch though... oh well, :P

Thanks for all the video's, and thanks for the kit (picked one of yours up from stoneage gamer at a nice discount).

Great stuff. It'll be cool to see a video of a TRRS to Component mod (with rgb board of course) by replacing the RF socket on a NES-001, or a TRRS mod on the original Famicom.

If i decide to keep my top-loader and mod it, this is how ill do it.

It's much cleaner looking, and just a much more appealing way to mod it imo.

As nice as the HDMI mod is, I don't feel the cost will be justified in the end with the AVS on its heels.

Has he ever commented about what tools he uses?

Specifically, I wanna know what kind of power his soldering iron has (I'm having problems, and it was commented my iron might be too hot for the work I'm doing with it). What gauge wire does he use, and what type of solder? Does he use the rosin core or silver-based?

I'm starting to get into console modding myself, and I just wanna make sure I'm doing things right.

What kind of cable are you using? I got a couple of those av 3.5mm cables but they are worthless, the video works on them but the audio coming from the red is not even there and they are brand new cables. I could try to clean the contacts in the Jack's themselves but it probably still wouldn't help.
