If I remember correctly, by the time the top loading NES came out, the SNES was already available and if you were going to go buy a gaming console, it made more sense to spend a little bit more to get the new console as opposed to the new version of the old console... Unless you already had a huge collection of NES games and needed a backup or a replacement.

If i remember right there wasn't ad many top loader consoles produced then standard nes. Thats the big reason why its easier to find standard nes consoles out there.

Truth is they scrapped the front loader design because it resulted in the blinking screen power problem, so they switched to the more reliable top load design like they should have done to begin with.

Top loader is also RF out only which will not look as good.

Love my top loader. Got mine on ebay several years ago ('09?) and got it av modded for $40 immediately after purchase. Every game starts up everytime. I strongly recommend getting one. I do like the look of the original, but I've had three of them in the past and over time, they become unreliable.

I saw a video of the NES the original was samller but Nintendo marketing said its to small and the US likes things big so they made the caseing bigger. Yall know if thats true or not?
