I invited Jesus into my life as a young using the scripture that was quoted in Revelation. Am 60 years old now and still following my Lord. Let God be the judge. After all its His word.

My husband asked me once “who led you to Jesus” and I never thought about that until he asked me that. No one led me to Jesus I met Jesus in kindergarten and I think it was through a nativity play which I was a part of, it wasn’t a elaborate radical encounter but the moment I heard about Jesus I just loved Him with all of my heart and believed in Jesus and had never prayed the sinners prayer. My family wasn’t saved and I had no Christian friends. I believed I was saved because of my faith. I had later on as a teen, young adult etc prayed the sinners prayer many times but it was often out of guilt and shame not faith.

Can I add that Jesus never said ‘you can not drink’ .... just saying. I love Isaiah but while we are on the topic of things Jesus ‘never said’ we might want to stick to that. ‘Don’t be drunk’ agreed. A leader should not be given to ‘much’ wine’ agreed’. but to say that alcohol is out and out banned in the Bible is simply untrue. Apart from that absolutely love this!

I said the “sinners prayer “and have been saved 28yrs. now. I’m old, and have seen many lives changed for Christ wether anyone agrees with it or not. It’s my understanding, the word says to confess it with ur mouth, that Jesus came to earth from heaven, was born of a virgin, suffered and took our sins and sickness on the cross for us, paying our debt so we can enter heaven. Millions have been saved thru that short prayer, I believe, because they were very sincere when they said it.
The word tells us to mean it with our whole heart, and Jesus will receive it. I’m so tired of legalism dividing the people of God. Have relationship with Jesus, read the word for urself. Seek him with ALL of ur heart, mind, soul and strength, and ur gonna find him. No two of us are exactly the same. The word of God is alive, it ministers to everyone daily because it doesn’t change! We change, but the word is true and when applied, comes along and changes us and our situation. These are testimonials for the unbeliever watching the saved. We do still have to invite Jesus into our hearts. Cuz we have to worship in spirit and in truth. So we have to honestly want Jesus in our lives and then from there, pick up our cross and follow Him!

Isaiah, I have a very personal story about the Scripture about Jesus standing at the door of my heart. This is the very Scripture God used so that I accepted and invited Him into my heart and life when I was a child. Then when I was in college some time ago. In my Biblical Exegesis class. We were taught, how to interpret Scriptures in the context of other Scriptures. First, read up on the context of the verse, then the history, then what does it say in the original language. Then you look it through the lens of the cross. How it aligns through Jesus and after that can you apply it to a modern audience? I may have left out a few steps, it's been a while. So that evening in class we discussed this Very text in the class, as it is given as an example of how we shouldn't take Scriptures out of context for which it was written. I was a little confused because it was Exactly how God used the Scripture when I was a child and so I gave my life to Jesus. This is what the authors stated the verse wasn't written for and shouldn't be applied in this way. I was saying to God, please Lord clarify this for me. He is soo good. That night after class I was praying, saying Lord please clarify this for me. As I was driving home at night I would often listen to "Focus on the Family". And as an answer to my prayer. There was a woman on the program being interviewed, and she was telling her story and how she got saved by learning about this Scripture in Revelation of Jesus standing at the door of our heart knock waiting for us to invite Him in. At that moment the Holy Spirit said to me, I can use Scriptures in any way I see fit. I am the author of the Word. God clarified something very profound to me that night. The difference between a Logos word versus a Rhema word of God. That night God showed me, that we cannot put Him or His Words in a box. His Word is alive, living Sword, it cuts, and it changes hearts. It is too powerful to limit it by our limited human understanding. Now, we need Holy Spirit to interpret Scripture and we need to always read in context. But a Rhema Word of God from God's Logos Word is transformative. Anyway, this is my story about this very verse. I also have many other examples where God has spoken to me specifically through His Word, as an individual. However, if you look at the context of that Scripture or the audience for which it was originally intended that Word, "shouldn't apply" or be applied in that way. BUT THAT IS THE WAY GOD CHOSE TO DO IT TO SPEAK TO ME PERSONALLY!
