My dad was in the military and was stationed in South Korea before I was born. One of the things he brought back with him to the states was a love of Korean food. He learned how to make some of it himself at home, so I grew up eating things like dak-galbi on a pretty regular basis. I absolutely love this channel! That being said, my boyfriend is a wimp when it comes to spicy food, so when I make this Rabokki recipe for him, I cheat a little to kill the spice by: 1) adding an extra 100g of rice cakes, and 2) adding an extra cup for water. The flavor is the same but it takes some of the edge out. One other thing I do differently for myself, this time, is that I add the raw onion (the big one, not the green one) in all at once with the rice cakes and the 1/2 of fish cakes, 1/2 of green onions, and the sauce. This way, the onions cook all the way through by the end! I do this because I don’t like onions unless they are cooked thoroughly!! I thought I would share these tips for anyone else who might try this recipe and either doesn’t like raw onion or has a person at home who can’t deal with the heat this dish has!

Omg- I WAS sitting here feeling nice and full from dinner, but now IM DIGGING THROUGH THE PANTRY FOR RAMYUN!! I'll have to check the Asian markets here in Orlando for Jin Ramyun- if its recomended by Aaron and Claire then I have to try it!

This looks so fantastic! I have been obsessed with tteokbokki mashups lately.. last weekend it was mixing bolognese sauce pasta with my tteokbokki.. it was the best thing ever.
