Resting Your Meats | MEATER Product Knowledge Video

After you’ve removed your meat from heat, don’t forget to let it rest like it’s had a long day at work. Take the meat out of your cooker and rest it on a cooler surface like a plate, rack, or cutting board to avoid overcooking. Also make sure to not wrap/cover the meat or else it may overcook; if you must wrap, consider setting a lower target temperature. When it’s resting, leave the probe in the meat because the app takes into account carryover cooking and will let you know how long to rest. Once it’s done, you’ll get the notification that your amazing meal is ready to eat.

I find that the Meater+ tends to notify me that the “rest” is complete while about 7 degrees of increased temperature. At that point meat tends to be overcooked. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I wish there was a way to adjust the carryover assumptions.

I have to manually adjust my desired doneness temp to around 107° for a rib-eye in order to actually end around 125°. Steak gets pulled to a cutting board and everything.

I followed these steps exactly and my steak was overcooked. How do you claim that it takes carry over cooking into account when the app tells you to take out your meat exactly when it reaches the target temperature and not before?!

I just had some beef roast overcooked. Based on this video it is because I wrapped it in foil so the temp rose way past the target temp. So based on this video I should leave it to rest until it reaches the target temp and then wrap it, if required, if the rest of the food isn't ready. It seems like setting a lower target temp involves a bit too much guess work.

Why can't we change resting/carryover time? We're stuck with 5 min for a steak? Course the app doesn't account for it anyway.

Overcooked 3 out of 3... disappointing how the app doesn't understand resting g time and no way to adjust it without lowering the temp by guessing a lower temp.
