I think my dogs walk is like my social media time. They have to smell who was here, where did they go? What did they eat? And, definitely off leash time is important.
Never tease, let your dog show you their humor. If they like the feeling of laughter in the house? And, the dog has a sense of humor ( not d dry person has a sense of humor, neither does every dog) the dog will find a way to make you laugh, if they like your laughter.
But, I disagree about idle chatter yo your dog. My dogs have always responded to my chatter to them specifically to them (no one else around) using their name, just telling them about my day.

im sorry but my sister is a dog groomer and there no way in hell, anyone is gonna stand around giving there dogs treats while we are trying to groom the dog....we usually ask u to leave until we are 100% done cause if they hear the owner voice or see them, they start to get all crazy and want to go...so they are extremely tuff to groom with the owner in the lobby or right there....we actually have each other groom are dogs so they don't get all worked up with us(the owner ) being around.

Please notice how the things dogs dislike, you WOULD NOT do to your human "friends." You ALL die; why not be a little friendly, welcoming, Aloha, in your own life?
I have seen too many unsuitable humans pretending to themselves that the constraints they make on dogs are useful - one woman has spent 20 years of her life screaming at a succession of dogs, NEVER learning that their OBVIOUS signals are the things she should be attending to.

Gestures of dominance do NOT make a friend - and if a dog does not want to have that hand atop their head, DON'T do it. It is DISGUSTING to watch passersby jerk their dog by the leash. Do NOT do that EVER.

There are numerous places where a dog desires to be touched, Choose ONLY those.

Attention is everything, and even though dogs ARE forever ungrown wolves, the single thing you MUST come away having learned, is that the Wolf teaches attention.
A human's lack of attention not only appears to be dementia, it IS dementia
