Couldn't agree more with every last word!
Especially allowing them the freedom to be the social creatures they are.

In the grocery store the other night a man had his service dog. Another man was asking him questions about her. In all honesty i have a problem with how the trainers of service dogs are educating people. Especially the across the board idea not to let anyone else interact with the dog while working. I see the sense in this but it should be a case by case basis. It insults the animals intelligence and can stifle their natural social instincts. Which long term has negative psychological impacts.
I could see in Juno's eyes that she was unhappy with this idea as well. While the man answered questions Juno and I communicated silently: she so wanted to be friends. At this point the man glances at me, and raises his voice while explaining to the other man "the rule", adding "if she gets distracted by other people she'll forget to pay attention to me"

This is just not true. If adequately trained in their role dogs can do both!!
