A real life saving moment was on 1982 when Boston Red Sox player Jim Rice saved a 4 yr old child’s life. The little boy was sitting right behind the Boston dugout when he took a line drive foul ball straight to the forehead. He was unconscious & bleeding profusely when Rice jumped out of the dugout, carried him back into the dugout where the team Dr. notified Children’s hospital & the team ambulance took him there. He was on his way in 3 minutes vs waiting for EMT’s. Had brain surgery & survived with no lasting effects. Rice had to play in the bloody uniform.. Google it.. pretty frickin intense

As some others have said, the first one was a commercial with CGI. I believe it was for Gillette. It was obviously well done because many people aren't sure whether it's real or not. And most of these are definitely not saving lives, but they are still really good/important plays. The ones of fans catching the balls to prevent people from getting hit are great. There are some really good videos of balls/bats flying into the stands and people keeping others from getting seriously hurt.

As soon as he says, "if the ball goes over the line, the other team scores a point, " I'm all "I gotta straighten him out on this one" and of course that's the first comment, explaining a touchback :D

The first clip with Evan Longoria is CGI. It was a TV commercial.

The football goal line saves are for field position. If the ball is downed past the line on a punt the other team gets the ball on the 20(80 yards away from scoring) if it is downed at the 1 yard line the other team has to start there, and go 99 yards to score.

Several years ago my Mom and her husband were in the stands of a Carolina Hurricanes hockey game . She was stuck in the head by a hockey puck but sustained little injury . She refused medical aid, but kept the puck, and the venue comped their tickets and bill .

In US & Canadian football, if the kicking team (or the Receiving team downs it in the "end zone" the ball is moved to the 20 yard line for the other team to start their drive towards their opponents goal line (now 80 yards away). If it is downed close to the goal line at around the 2 yard line, not only does this make it farther away for a score, but if the team that is now on defense catch any of their opponent in the end zone with the ball it is 2 points and their opponents have to kick the ball to them at the 20 yard line which gives them great field position! (And even better yet, if their opponents fumbles (i.e. drops the football) and they recover it in the end zone then it is a touch down!

You two might like watching about the MLB ball girls. They catch foul balls that could potentially hit spectators on the lower levels of some parks. The foul ball usually goes to a kid spectator.

1:06 The first one is special effects. Done for a commercial. Doesn't bode well for the rest. (sigh) 4:00 He might be drunk but some people really zero in on getting a souvenir drunk or not. The only saving lives to this is the baseball line drives. That is why you always pay attention when watching a game.

So in football if the ball touches the line or goes past it the opposite team gets to take it to the 20 yard line rather then the 1 yard line

The same huge professional football player that almost killed me, saved my life. We were at a college football game (his son was playing) at the top of the bleachers when he bumped into me and sent me flying headfirst down the cement steps. He was 6'3"-250 lbs., I was 5'2"-110 lbs. ~ He was so fast, as soon as he knocked me flying, he shot an arm out and hooked me around the waist in mid-air, and set me on my feet! Wow! Thought I was dead! Amazing catch!

"Saving Lives" was mostly click bait in video title. It did show basketball players helping others from possible serious injury, and in baseball, catching a foul ball, from hitting a reporter, or fans in their seats. The football segments were just showing players keeping the ball "live" in the field of play. Still, a very interesting video.

The clip where Shaq jumped into the crowd while trying to save the ball, there were a couple of kids in the front row and Shaq jumped so he wouldn't run into them.

Good job being professional you two, even with the Saving Lives video being a dud.

The clip at 0:54 was done for a commercial way back when, the ball is CGI. Just wanted to make you aware ^_^ Notice that despite all the camera movement, his left hand (screen right) stays out of frame until he tosses the ball up to his right hand to throw it, which is the real ball.

Had front row seats at a national tournament game at Madison Square Garden. Had friends texting and calling asking if I was at the game. Sat right behind the bench and got high fives and a team water bottle given to me by one of my favorite players, made ESPN highlights for a huge play and talked security into letting us take a picture on the court. That's why you pay for a front row ticket sometimes.

A baseball makes a sound like a flag blowing in the wind. It’s especially loud coming off a bat. He knows the sound and heard it coming. I don’t know how he put his hand in exactly the right spot. That hurt, he played it off well. That was going to be a serious head injury if he hadn’t caught it.

If you sit NBA Courtside, you have to sign a waiver. (I'm with you, girl: "Thx, but no thx!" 😉)
