For best overall value the Prius Prime is winner. I think the Bolt's are excellent values as well. Always have a soft spot in my heart for the Leaf. It is the grand daddy of them all.

I just bought the Clariti, a 2021 with 10, 000 miles, for 32, 000. Absolutely the best car I have ever had. My Lexus LS400 has 250, 000 miles, and hope to drive this car just as far.

I'm driving a 2019 Prius Prime. In flat terrain at 30~40 mph, in EV mode, range is about 35 miles. At 65mph, range is 25 miles. In Hybrid mode on long road trips, it can get 65 mpg at 55 mph, or 55 mpg at 65 mph. The only downside of the Prius Prime is that unlike most PHEV's, which put the the traction battery under the cabin floor between the wheel wells, the Prius Prime puts the battery behind the rear seat, in the cargo space; this reduces the available cargo volume by quite a lot: the battery pack is about 12" tall, so there's 12" less cargo height than in the Prius Hybrid. The a/c compressor motor consumes 2 kilowatts, so running the a/c in EV mode will reduce your EV range by about 20%.

While it isn't available anymore (nor is the Clarity), I'd take my Chevy Volt over any of these. With over 60 miles electric I almost never have to use gas, and it is (was) affordable to boot. Got mine for $29, 000. With the tax rebate that made it about the same as the Malibu.

I have a 2014 Chevy Volt that has far surpassed all my expectations. Most reliable and lowest cost car I have ever owned.

I have Outlander PHEV and I reach 5.5 L/100 Km, if you use the EV battery before total power goes totly, I keep around 15 km in.

bought a 22 Hyundai Ioniq plug-in 5 months ago, still haven't filled with gas. I'm not too concerned with reliability since I seldom use the gas engine. Lots of tech includes wireless Carplay. Currently at 168 MPG of gas. Dealers seem more fair than others.

Shari, we are thoroughly enjoying your videos - they are extremely well-presented. Question - how difficult do you think it would it be (20Aug) to get a 23 Bolt EV in London, ON? thx, Raj

The 2022 LEAF SV Plus comes in just under $40K (before incentives) and has enough range that it doesn't feel like you're driving an EV.

Please review the 2022 Lexus RX 450HL. I have been very disappointed with the hybrid car.
