Here's why EVERY hard-start needs CPT.

American capacitor manufacturer, AmRad, decided to solve the issue of hard-starts killing compressors. If a motor-run capacitor fails while a hard-start is attached, the hard-start keeps kicking the compressor on, leading it to overheat, over pressurize and potentially meet an early demise. The CPT acts as a kill-switch if the motor-run capacitor fails, preventing the hard-start from kicking the compressor on, thus PROTECTING the compressor.

CPT is standard on AmRad's Turbo 200, Turbo 200X, and Herm value USA capacitors.

The addition of the CPT terminal is extremely confusing since so many online retainers still show the same models without the additional contacts. I ordered the AmRad USA2236 and faced this issue when doing my own replacement. It introduced an unnecessary amount of uncertainty into the mix as I first thought I'd received the wrong part. For those who are in the same boat, just ignore the CPT terminal and the cap will work just fine.

Why not show the whole connection for the 3 wires on the hard starter kit ?

I recently bought a 2 wired type hard start kit, so can I just plug one into HERM and the other into CPT?

I am glad to have bought this made in America product! The Cap I purchased unexpectedly came with CPT and I wasn't sure what to do with it. My AC was either starting the fan or the compressor but not both so I replaced it with a CAP050700440CT and it fired right up! Both the compressor and the fan! But the compressor, even though it ran for several minutes with no fan, now only stays on for a few minutes... The fan stays running but the compressor keeps power cycling. Me sad now but I'll keep the capacitor anyway because I want to support our manufacturing!

My Goodman had 3 wires, 1 common, 1fan and the other 1Herm, can you tell me how to connect model Amrad 45/5x370/440 with 4pin, 1common, 1fan, 1herm and the other 1 CTP Thanks

She talks way to fast! I think I understand it, (but they could have done a better job! -(KIT -Installation as I am only a home owner, but want to purchase American)! Do I need to purchase, anything else or is it just a matter of connecting the terminals to the capacitor? CPT is this a KIT I need to

These capacitors are bulletproof. I offer them as an upgrade not just repairs

Is this only for the 2 wire hard start kit, or does it work with the 521 potential start relay type?

Is the Amrad USA2215 with the CPT still polarized?
