Don’t take the old video down, it’s still really good. Just make sure to have a link to this one. I always enjoy the “mystery?” video followed by a “SOLVED” video

Please don't take the previous video down!
As a teacher, this is GOLD for showing kiddos that it is okay to miss details and to go back and reevaluate one's work.
I can tell my students all day, "Learning from your mistakes makes you better, blah, blah..." But actually seeing an admired adult do this is what solidifies that message more than anything one can say.

This is my favorite sort of thing to wake up to: Hank learning a new thing, being slightly upset by the new thing, and then coming to terms with it all within a few minutes.

Hey, on the plus side, you just demonstrated the scientific method. You developed a hypothesis, then more information surfaced and it disproved the hypothesis. Science! And bonus for demonstrating how to be wrong with good humor, and not being afraid to be wrong or say that you were wrong, which is super important and also a skill!

If I teach part of a data science class I'm using the first video as an example of something going wrong when you do data analysis without sufficiently understanding the system you're getting data from. Loved this video!

I subscribed to your channel after the original Olympic video (mainly because it was something I also thought about and felt validated).

I am staying subscribed because you did something unheard of here…learned and self-corrected. You’re more admirable for it, in my eyes.

Don't take the other video down. Situations like this teach people that it's ok to be wrong as long as you're open to learning more and correcting yourself when new information comes your way, and frankly, the world at large and netizens in particular need a reminder of that simple fact.

Side note: You're awesome and an inspiration for many. Thanks for all you do.

Watching hank use sheets trying to figure out how to combine the numbers to get the output you want is a huge mood

It's wonderful to see the humility is someone saying, "I got it wrong but look why!"

Don't take the video down!!! I think this kind of process of having a question and then investigating the question and then reevaluating the investigation when new evidence is uncovered is SUPER valuable to see step by step, in real time like this! Especially when its someone who is known for "knowing stuff". Showing the path between not knowing a thing and being wrong about a thing and then learning about the thing is so important!!

This and the previous video are among my favorites now, please keep them up. This IRL demo of "super smart and respected human being gets stumped by a silly mistake, acknowledges, briefly forgets intro stats, fixes, and laughs about it all" is one of the best demos of what real life science/engineering is really like.

Okay but that means that the "gold bias" some countries have is even more statistically significant. This raises more questions!

1:08 I saw a tie in an event this year, I believe it was a men’s gymnastics event, where two people got silver and two people got bronze, a tie like that could be why you got more silver than gold, there was a tie for second place somewhere and no ties for gold to even it out.

its so nice to see someone admit they got their math/science wrong, especially when the corrected result is completely contrary to the initial conclusions/hypothesis. big respect!

They used to call this process "think alouds" and encourage teachers to do them with their students... love the two videos together!

You are the only influencer whose corrections usually reach more people than whatever the original incorrect thing reached. And that is in no small way because you try really hard to do that. I super appreciate it.
