Adam Sandler really should do more stuff like this. He doesn't give himself more credit when it comes to doing scenes like this. It would be great to see him starring in a drama.

What kills me is that his son is so shocked to see his father suddenly have so much life and sadness in him when the past 6 years he’s been an empty shell, so it must be somewhat scary but lovely to see his dad finally show emotion over his fathers death. The way he was so quick to just push his meeting and just wanted to be with his dad, man that hurts.

My dad recently passed away and I remember watching this movie and it kinda inspired to appreciate every moment I had with him :(

Take a moment to think about this:

For the majority of Michael's (Adam Sandler) auto-pilot years, many would see him as not very reactive or very distant. The moments where he fast-forwards and isn't on auto-pilot are moments that his family remembers. His wife/ex-wife probably got a call from her son, explaining how Michael "was awake and very upset out of the blue" upon hearing about the Grandfather dying. Michael's son will definitely remember this moment in his life, when his father had a sudden reversal of the years where he had been nonreactive and distant. This was a person who suddenly displayed signs of life, emotion, grief, etc.

He'll remember it again on his wedding day/night when Michael was not on auto-pilot. He'll even remark with the way Michael says, publicly "Oh my God, I didn't miss my son's wedding!" Michael's son will probably be able to deduce that something was very wrong with Michael most of his life, and was saddened at his death as he'll never know what exactly was wrong, but managed to have a true moment with his father at the very end of it all.

This movie is underrated and underappreciated...I love this movie...I don’t care what the critics say...Adam Sandler can act.

0:40 to 0:50 his breathing and that small weep crushes my heart every time. Adam Sadler has insane range as an actor. My emotions were everywhere when I first seen this.

Man that hugging scene at 1:00 has to be one of most heartfelt scenes in cinematic history. The shot and the music behind is so powerful along with the acting.

I lost my dad today right after 5:30pm exactly 6 years ago when I was 21. I remember watching this movie with him. Sadly it was his time. We don't get to choose when we go, but we can choose how we live. I hope no one has to lose any of their loved ones early and holds them close. If the relationship needs work then do the best you can to make it better. Never take the relationship for granted...

When he asks “ are you crying”. It shows how he doesn’t see this from him normally and that he’s so unfeeling normally that even his own sun doesn’t know how to react to such strong emotions

The sadest moment for me in that movie was when his dad said to him "i love you son" 😥
