Not sure if this was in the anime, but his mom saying "we didn't bring you into this world because we wanted you to do something for us. We brought you here because we wanted to do something for you" deeply resonated with me (I am a grown kid that everyone likes to use, feeling distant from my relatives for years, yeepee).

I just think that every parent must be like this - not asking things from a child, but genuinely willing to make their life worth it, fulfilling and meaningful. For the kid, not for the parents. The parents made a conscious choice to bring you here, so their duty is to get you through the hard years until you can stand on your own, then you might be willing to give them back the same love and support. Not because someone forces it out of you, but because you genuinely feel like doing it.
