This is for the case the fraction on the left side is greater than the fraction on the right side(3/4 greater than 1/5). If the fraction on the left side is less than the fraction on the right side, the fraction on the left side can borrow from the whole number (regrouping) so that the fraction on the left will be greater than the fraction on the right side so you can subtract them and also avoid negative fractions.

Does this also work if the numerator that you're subtracting from is smaller (to avoid negative numbers)?
