I'm not sure why someone would blame genetics if they can't lose weight. Take responsibility for your actions and admit that you had a poor diet and not exercising as much as you should be.

It may be at least in oarents' training of the child; emotional eating is taught and is not necessarily eating for health and fueling the body.

Her thinking is still in the stone ages. If someone's brain/body is regulating them to a high BMI, then telling them to diet and exercise to a lower BMI is torture and doomed to fail over the long term, no matter how much "support" you give them. You need to solve the misregulation first.

Being obese isn't a genetic. It's all about eating less calories and exercising more. That's it.

Obesity is directly related to food.
The evidence is that we determine our metabolic rates through activity in our development years.
All people when starved lose mass and eventually die.
Let's not complicate basic science and observation here.
I am not doubting that genetics may make losing weight more difficult - in which case it is the responsibility of the individual to manage diet accordingly, just as a top athlete would intake less calories in retirement...

My husband's grandma is fat, his mom is fat, his aunt on the mom's side is fat, and his half-sister is fat but my husband, his dad, and half brother are not fat..i sort of think it's a genetic curse on his mom's side that effects women...but then again my mother-in-law is lazy

I am not fat. I am 5' 5 and 119 pounds (54 kg), but always had fat thighs. Doing exercises, everywhere loses fat except my thighs. it runs in my family. even my father and brothers have fat thighs. so yes, genetics matter.

Because it is passed on

Their parents went through a lot of hard times, hard side of life
That's why the kid is obese because it's wounded.

I have done both gained weight and lost weight many times, I can confirm it is genetic because once you do excercise and reduce your calorie intake you will loose weight in 3-4 months but believe me once you stop doing excercise your body will slowly start coming to its default setting that is you will start looking fat again. It is pathetic for fat people because slim people even though they do not excercise and sit and be lazy all the day it won't cause issue any problem to them 😭
