Dave, in cub scouts, weblos, and boy scouts, I struggled the most with knots... now that I'm in my mid 50s... things are easier and I understand alot more! Tbh, I still struggle with weaving and things like this... but this I understand! So thank you for teaching "the mentally knot/weaving challenged!!

Slings are common in North Africa ! I'll make another one pretty soon. Still have the leather pouch of my first slingshot... I'll make one as well 🫡

It's really cool to see you talking about the sling. It's a simple weapon but has a fascinating history. I'm happy that people are becoming more and more interested in it.

One of the first videos I saw of yours was improvised projectiles. Always loved those early archery and budget gear vids.

Made one today. I closely copied your leather pouch style. Having a lot of fun!
Thanks for sharing!

I like that style better than the simpler version I had been using from paracord channels, more cordage in the belly of the sling pouch instead of a single line thru the middle seems much more reliable.
Good stuff brother many thanks!

🎉 Great Video Dave! Was thinking of something like this using paracord after the long video braiding Jute Twine. While the Jute Twine sling was super retro and cool... this is the Quick and dirty version.🎉

Took me six minutes and eight seconds to realize it wasn't a arm you were making.
Guess I'm tired :-) Fun video and a cool project to do.

attach a walking stick to that sling, and power up that sling into a two handed catapult rock thrower. simply cut in a small circumphrance recess about 2 inches down from the end of the thick end of the stick. attach one part of the sling there with a jam knot, like the Canadian jam knot. Then cut sort of a seven knotch on the tip, making it almost like a soft hook on the end of the stick there to hold the other part of the sling which would simply have a loop, like a bowline. hook the loop on the 7 knotch hook part, put a rock in the sling, and catapult the rock forward. practice to see how it works. the string releases from the stick when the stick begins or is facing forward, and the hook end can be steeper or shallower to adjust it for the release. This staff sling is much much easier to launch rocks than a hand sling, and I believe is far m ore powerful, and can even accomodate larger rocks almost to fist size. I use leather for the rock holder portion and form it into sort of a cupped shape by slicing the leather strip in a little but on bit end sides, in the middle. I have found that somewhat flatter oval rocks work extremely well, since they tend to helicopter in flight causing increased distance, but any rock will do.
