When it comes to finding food in a survival situation, traps and snares are a key survival skill. In this bushcraft survival video I'll show you how to make 5 survival traps and snares that work. We'll first take a quick look at the simple and effective wire rabbit snare, then move on to the spring pole snare. In case you don't have a good sapling close by, I show how to make a lift pole snare, aka a flip up snare. Then I'll show how to make a baited cubby snare with both a sapling spring pole and a Spanish windlass trap setup.

Don't forget to subscribe to the channel. We're uploading a new video each week that features one of the following topics: archery, bow hunting, bow making, survival skills, bushcraft, self reliance, primitive skills, primitive bows, hunting, camping, fishing, and a lot more!

Big thanks to our partners who help support these videos!

My ex wife was seen snooping around my house. I used the cubby snare method and used my wallet as bait. This worked wonderfully, this is a tried and true method.

Scrolling through the comment section and seeing a reply from Clay on nearly every single comment is so admirable. Not only are you such a skilled survivalist, but you're also such a genuinely good person. This is what I consider a true "influencer". Keep being a great person and I absolutely love the content. Very therapeutic for me

Decent video. No annoying background "music", no aggressive merch pushing, no wierd stuff.

As someone who studied marketing and has found the over saturation of pushing materials and other merch annoying, I found the way you included your socials and book quite nice as it didnt interrupt the flow of the video (until I stopped to write this) and actually made me feel like checking out the book based on what you showed here. And thanks for the survival tips :))

I just finished watching season 8 and I never cry watching anything but I was fighting back tears when they told you that you won. I once fell into homelessness out in the San Jacinto mountains and had to survive with a broken down car way out there for just a couple of weeks out there and all I did was starve, people don't really understand how hard it is to survive the wilderness alone and starving.. everyone comments and criticizes but they've never had to skin their own food in their life. Anyways congrats man, you really earned your fame. You should do another season man, I'd put money on you

I live in a small apartment because I work with youth in the city, but I used your video to build a trap out of a soup can, paint stir sticks, and an old wrist rocket band. Got a squirrel outside the window today, and grateful that it's fast and merciful. I've learned a ton from your videos, especially when I started out with archery a couple of years ago. Still practicing towards getting a deer this year or the next. Thank you Clay.

I made these types of traps/ snares .. when I was a kid in the 70’s.. then just kept perfecting these. This is a perfect skill for young boys to be thought .. and show responsibility.

The best way to be successful is to set lots of snares…I normally set at least 50 up to 150! Some set hundreds of em! During warm weather you need to check em at least daily but when the colder weather comes you can check em less often. When the snow comes you need to have em flag taped or similar to help you find em as the terrain will look dramatically different now. You also need to adjust the sets as snow builds up or down! After setting your snares check em on the way out…you will sometimes have caught one in short order! Good snaring!

You are a very good teacher on survival. That being said you are very thoughtful of the animals so they do not suffer long. That is a admired trait for a trapper to live and work by. Due to the food shortage that is going to be at everyone's front door your traps will come in very handy to put meat on ones plate. Thanks I do appreciate your methods. I will be back to learn more from you.
