I actually own a Vietnamese indigenously crafted crossbow. had it and a dozen bolts (small, very light weight, closer to darts really) for years.

showed an expert the whole kit n' kaboodle and he, in astonishment, actually pointed out that the darts were poisoned and that it was lucky that I had not pricked myself with them.

having rareley taken them out of the quiver, I looked closley as he consulted, and saw that, sure enough, the tips were smeared in a greasy oily substance.
