I love how he's being incredibly rude for civilian standards but for DI standards he's being super nice

He's like instinctively criticizing her but you can tell he's holding back

My grandpa was a DI, two time Nam vet. He made his bed like this every morning and taught me how to make the sheets so tight a penny could bounce off the bed.
He was so kind and compassionate too.
RIP Abuelo.

The thing I love about drill instructors is when you watch them, they tell you everything you need to know and how to do it. And from the outside looking in you can hear, understand and empathise with drill like, wtf just do what he says. But when you're in the moment and it's being yelled at you and your nerves get in the way from thinking and hearing clearly you understand what the training is for.

The Edge! THE EDGE!!!

*remembers she’s civilian*

If she was really in basic she’d be in tears. That was the most you’ll ever see a drill instructor hold back. You know he wanted to lay into her.

At 2:26 you can tell that he's using *ALL* his restraint and willpower not to flip that entire rack over.

Much respect to those who have served... I have never had anyone that demanding over me. I'm sure you would learn quickly. Thank you all for your service.

Ssgt: "Can I have your number?"
Reporter:"..."
Ssgt: "You didn't say nothing."

I think he is genuinely having really good time. At one point he almost smiled.

Nearly 30 years later and I still make my bed similar to how I did in boot camp lol. Not quite so tight... but close! My wife rarely makes the bed, and I usually redo it if she does. She loves how I make it so it works out. This certainly brings back memories, even if I was Navy!

I remember my DI when I was a new recruit. He was hella loud and strict. After I finished my service, I bumped into him at a mall. He was happy to see me alive and well. Surprisingly, he was very soft spoken. I asked him was he always like this before his service and he said he was only loud and strict in service since it was a matter of commanding your recruits.

"Amanda honey. Could you please fix the bed for me? I'm running late."
*"AYE SIR!"*
"Heh?"

This is the most patient drill instructor I have ever seen. I bet if it was a real recruit he would have exploded.

I understand that it’s because she’s a civilian, but at the same time that’s the most mellow I’ve ever seen a Marine Drill Instructor be 😂
I was Army, and the only time I seen our Drill Sergeants that mellow was Graduation Day around our Families

When I was in basic training the very first day with my platoon, the trainers asked for one volunteer, not saying why. I thought: "What can happen the first day" and raised my hand.
They asked me where my bed and locker was and build the sample copy with my stuff. That was one of the best days in basic training for me. :)

My sister served in the Army back in 85, 86. Even over thirty years after serving she still makes her bed the same way she was taught.

My son did 8 years ❤ he’s 30 now. Still have him in my profile picture to this day. So proud what the Marines did for him. Makes 130k plus bonus now. That 18 to 26 was the best jumpstart in life.
