From a historical perspective, I'm with Michael on this. You can't change the fact that He would've looked like a Middle Eastern Jewish guy. However, spiritually, it doesn't matter whether he's depicted as White, Black, Asian, Hispanic, Middle Eastern etc bc He is the universal Lord. People will understand Jesus based on the perspective they grew up with, which is why we have Our Lady of China for example.

Not only that; but the very idea of Jesus is that he is the King of Kings, race as a concept is beneath him. It shouldn’t matter if he’s white, black, Asian etc.; he is your Lord and you should love and respect both him and your neighbors all the same regardless of appearance.

I think it's intolerant to try to depict Him as other than he could have been. They're saying that they need Him to be a particular way before they'll trust Him. They're demanding that God be a particular way.

It's entirely inappropriate, not to mention arrogant. What right does anyone have to impose limitations on their creator? He looked the way he looked, however that was, and all Christians need to accept it.

I think the reason Jesus gets depicted in many different races (besides the practicality of using models that the people in the area had available to them) is to make Him easier to relate to for the people in the areas. It's like Our Lady of Guadalupe. She appeared to Juan Diego with very Aztec features to help the Aztecs in the area be able to comprehend her power over their pagan moon god so they would be more willing to convert. This doesn't really seem weird to me.

Yes, but most scholars agree that he did not look like our classic image of a white man with a beard. Our classic image of Jesus is from when Christianity spread through the Byzantinian Empire. They made him look like a Byzantinian to sell more plates with his image on them. In the garden of Gasemity, Judas had to point out Jesus to the Roman soldiers (by kissing him), because Jesus looked unremarkable. Therefore he looked like any other Jew.
