What Did Jesus Really Look Like

It is amazing how much artwork and pop culture influence how we think about things. Probably one of the oldest examples of this is the controversy around what Jesus actually looked like, especially when it come to his skin color and tone. the controversy over Jesus' skin color is multifaceted, involving historical evidence, cultural identity, and contemporary social issues. Many groups have differing beliefs, each shaped by a combination of historical research, cultural context, and the desire for representation and inclusion. But what did he actually look like? This video explores what Jesus Christ actually looked like based on additional scriptural evidence and then AI image generators will simulate what Mary and Jesus actually looked liked.

Remember, Judas had to give a sign to point out Jesus among his disciples. If Jesus was black (or sub-saharan), then Judas would have just say "Oh, he's the black one over there, " or "the tall blond looking one." All this to say he looked like any other Jew at the time period.

In the book “He Walked The Americas” accounts of the tribes often refer to him as having pale skin- grey/green eyes. While his appearance does not truly matter, the book also confirms his teachings. He advised tribes to love God, and love each other. I’d highly recommend this book to anyone.

For me, I think of Joseph Smith’s description of the Savior from “The Living Christ Proclamation”: “His eyes were as a flame of fire; the hair of his head was white like the pure snow; his countenance shone above the brightness of the sun; and his voice was as the sound of the rushing of great waters…” 😀

I read an NDE where the person says that they were told that in an NDE Jesus will appear to a person as their worldview of what he would look like. I thought that was interesting.

Isaiah says of the future Christ as, 'having no beauty that men should desire Him." I think it likely that the mortal Saviour would not come with striking good looks but that his perfect spirit endowed his presence with a desire to heed him, like the calling of his disciples who straightway left their boats and followed after him. Judas had to identify him in the garden by way of a kiss, though remember it was also the night time with only flame torches to illuminate slightly.

It does'nt matter what he looked like. Everyone is putting too much emphasis on what he looked like, and not enough on why he came to earth to save humanity from self destruction

Hello Kevin, first I want to tell you I enjoy your videos very much. Thanks for all the time you put into your research to give us these videos. Just want to mention, in the Spanish translation of the B of M, it does say that Mary was beautiful and white. And in Spanish, white has no other side meanings to it. White is white. Thx again for all you do and big hug from Mexico! 👍🏻

I think I heard that Jesus has green eyes. It will be cool to one day see what He looks like.

Good point about who actually sired Jesus; never heard anyone point that out in this context. One point I have made with some is that this is the most travelled strip of land in the world at that time and for a long time prior; no one really knows what folks looked like, but I assume there was variety; I assume even in closed cultures like the Jewish culture, there was variety.

Ultimately, I believe those who have His countenance will recognize Him immediately, and it won't have anything at all to do with skin tone, hair color, or eye color. Those things probably will not even be perceived in that moment.

I think you should have added the account from the Shroud of Turin. It has been proven that many medieval paintings of Christ were based on the image on the shroud. Additionally, with the scientific evidence pointing to the shroud being the true authentic burial clothe of Christ, it is worth looking into that line of evidence for what Christ looked like.

I think 'The Chosen' Jesus is (a little too Indian-ish, but) a nice likeness.

I believe during his mortal life Christ may have looked any number of ways, since 1st Century Palestine was a very racially diverse place. It was a cosmopolitan trading hub, on the road between many other important places. Judas had to point him out with a kiss, not because everyone looked the same but because everyone was so diverse! Imagine picking someone out of a NYC crowd, you cant just go by physical description.

I believe, in short, that exaltation made him appear White (as in, european features) and this is why on the road to Emmaus the disciples did not recognize him at first. In his Exalted state is how the Prophet Joseph Smith saw him, thus he described him as blonde with blue eyes and fair complexion.

That being said, its inappropriate to just look at where people groups are today and assume the people groups of that land have never changed (esp just mere appearance). That would be to ignore demographic changes over millennia, conquests, migrations, genocides, interbreeding, etc. If we look at Washington DC today we can see its 70% Black in some areas. We cant just run with that to assume that 70% of the Founding Fathers were Black too (as badly as many who wish to destroy Western History would like to conflate White achievements with the new arrivals). Much of southern New England and the Tri-state area are catholic, but we cant run with that to say "thus were the Pilgrims!"

Dont fall for the "product placement" of human lives in modern media.

Isn't one of the scriptural descriptions of Him that he was plain looking that no one would desire after Him?

In the book, The Savior in Kirtland, eyewitnesses state that the Savior has blue eyes, which are caused by two recessive genes.

Nephi says that the Europeans who settled America where white just like HIS people were white before the skin curse. So we can say with a high degree of confidence that ancient Israelites up to and including Jesus looked just like western Europeans.

Jesus was a descendant of David who was described as ruddy twice, red face.

As a Catholic convert of course I always pictured Christ as a Renaissance man, but now after watching The Chosen, that's who I picture Jesus to look like! HaHa 😏
