How to Tie the Palomar Knot

The Palomar knot might just be the most widely used knot in bass fishing and for good reason: It's easy to tie and it's super strong. With the creation of fluorocarbon, it has quickly become one of the most popular-and frequently debated-knots in our sport.

If you make sure to avoid any crossing throughout the process of tying the Palomar knot, you'll have very few issues with break-offs or failure. In addition to fluorocarbon, it's also an outstanding option for both monofilament and braided lines.

Somebody showed me this knot 25 years ago on a deep sea fishing boat after i lost a good fish due to a faulty improved clinch knot as a kid...palomar knot has worked well ever since then!

Dude thank you for this tutorial, i have never used the drop shot rig before and and never really needed to use the palormar knot before but recently i decided that i wanted to try out the drop shot rig and seen guys use the palomar knot but i never learned the palomar knot before but dude you made it so easy and simple thank you now i can drop shot like everybody else

Several Pro fisherman acquaintances of mine use this knot in tournaments probably 90% of the time! All you really need is a line to leader knot, a Palomar knot, and maybe the double clinch knot. I like the GT knot for braid to flouro leader; very simple knot as well.
