I have seen this documentary at least 5 times. Every time I see the trailer it moves me to tears. I love Plum Village, Thich Nhat Hanh and the Buddhist teachings.

I'm sorry, but... I wanted to like this film. There was some wisdom in the philosophy. But, there were two scenes, in particular, that made me feel like this was just the Buddhist version of a Televangelist.

The first offense in question was the "family reunion, praise the lord" scene. They milked that so long it got weirdly uncomfortable to watch. WTF? So, I put that down to poor editing.

Then when the guy asks "If silence is the path to mindfulness, then what is the use of sound? " To which a woman responds with some total, off the cuff mumbo jumbo that made me finally stop the film. I got to about 80% at that point.

Turned it off. Garbage.
