How to divide a mixed number by a fraction

👉 Learn how to divide mixed numbers. To divide mixed numbers, we first convert the mixed numbers to improper fractions. After we have converted the mixed numbers to improper fractions, we can then multiply the first fraction by the reciprocal of the second fraction. (The reciprocal of a fraction is swapping the positions of the numerator and the denominator).

the same way first conver 2 and 6/7 to an improper fraction then you have 1/4 divided by 20/7. The quick simple way to explain this is to flip the fraction you are dividing by and multiply. Therefore you will have 1/4 multiplied by 7/20 giving you an answer of 4/80 reduced down to 1/20

You need to make sure that you can reduce the numerator and the denominator. The only two numbers we can reduce this fraction by are 15, 5, and 3. Neither of those numbers divide into 52. Therefore this fraction cannot be reduced. However we can write it as a mixed number 3 and 7/15's
