and.... does the video actually address why did herod try to kill Jesus or did i hear it mainly in passing?
i heard a basic part at the start of the video but i watched to the end because i thought it was a giant build up to answer that question lol

Also, he killed his own mother and son. So it wouldn't be weird of him doing some cleansing.

He tried to kill him for the same reason the Egyptians did.. The fear of losing power and dominion/rulership. He knew that Christ was prophesied to take Edom's dominion and he wasn't having it.

Herod The Great did not try to kill Jesus, Herods son did- Herod Anticipois

Josephus does not mention this. Neither does any writer of the Talmud and these sources can be quite critical of Herod. The three other gospels also fails to mention this. I don't think it happened.

My view on the matter is that Jesus was either herods child. Or herods father got mary pregnant and was a bastard or adopted. Idk

Funny how this in depth video that covers lots of extensively documented history about ancient Israel doesn’t mention a single documentary record of the life of Jesus. It’s almost as if Jesus never existed and all the written records of him were fictional creations.

Jesus is imaginary . Herod bumped off members of his own family. Standard human paranoia... no hunt for a prophesied god-man . That's a re-tread of the Moses story ("All the men are dead, who sought your life")
