This is by far my favorite portrayal of king herod, going from soft spoken and wacky into a rage filled tyrant.

one of the most random and wacky scenes in cinematic history…but brings much needed light relief to the drama that follows…

Neelys deserves an acting award for keeping a straight face — this must have been a hoot to film

I think there may be some historical inaccuracies here, first off, the Charleston wasn't invented until 5 years after these events took place.

These are the actual words King Herod said to Jesus, but centuries ago church authorities deemed them too catchy and cool, so the gospel was altered not to have them.

This movie version has always been my favorite rendition of Jesus Christ Superstar. King Herod’s song has always been a fun song, & this rendition, with Josh Mostel’s enthusiasm & the brilliant directing by Norman Jewison brings a special amount of energy to it!

Im 31 and if I ever have kids and they see this im just going to tell them this is the best archeological evidence of what we think the 1970s were like.

2:00 Best "ohohoh!" in musical history, especially combined with the chuckle in "Yes, I'm a captive fan"

After 50 years, this is still the best version of the song that I've heard. Bravo!

50 years now and it's looks fantastic choreography and filming set. Music in 20s style, writing in 60s and filming in 70s.

I’m not sure Jesus can hear Herod’s whispering.

This is the weirdest iteration out of all King Herods in JCS, even the talkshow host version!
