Went  from Khabarovsk to Irkutsk on Train no 2 in 1986...coaches not as posh as these but comfortable 'soft' class nonetheless....cut off from the 'locals' by the restaurant car. A gulag prisoner out on licence was peeling spuds for the total duration we were on the train. Cups of tea 24/7 and old ladies filling the water tanks at various stations. And, lady loco drivers too. Magic trip. Wish I could afford to go all the way and back again! :)

I don't know about hot water . I travelled in exactly the same rail carriage and it had hot water. Can be CBC shenanigans again.

Still a great train journey. Has had big upgrades over Covid. Showers and more comfy cabins. For even more experience try the BAM line . ❤

There's no shower!? Okay, I'm a huge train buff and as much as I would LOVE to do this, that's a major deal breaker for me :/

I took this train from London to Yokohama in October 1970.
Has anyone done this journey in the 1970s? Because I'm frequently told that this train wasn't operating in the 1970s, and further that no Brit couldn't travel across Russia during this period. Please help me nail this lie.

Thanks for sharing your insightful and well filmed video. We film natural sound and sight go pro walks too so it's really good to have others guiding me through a journey I would love one day to go on. I've subscribed and look forward to seeing more.
