I have beat type 2 diabetes! Did it with very low carb ketogenic diet. All my blood work over the last couple years showed fasting blood glucose over 200. After changing my diet for 6 months my fasting blood glucose is now on average below 100. Doctor said it was not possible to turn it around without medication. So much for that and so much for him.

Dennis, I have to tell you. I am so elated. I moved to Montana on July 8th and had my bloodwork taken a few days ago. My A1C was 5.7! I was at a freezing point of 6.0 for almost 3 years. I moved into an apt. by myself and am walking more and are much more active than in New Jersey. I think this state agrees with me. I almost gave up on going to the 5, s group! God is soooo good! God Bless you my friend.❤😊

I am touching 63 and following Dennis' advice I have come down from HbA1C of 10.1 to 6.3 the last I checked (June). Next month when I check again I hope to be further down to 6 or maybe less. I have two side effects (both good) to report - (a) the pain I used to feel in my knee while going downstairs has vanished and (b) my resting heartbeat has slowed down. Maybe due to the accompanying weight loss or maybe the reduced insulin or whatever. This diet and thought process WORKS!

Rats eat to survive. Humans eat to cope with stress, for enjoyment, etc.

I'm really liking your videos of this Gary Taubes book. Hopefully, there will be lots more to come. Looks like a big book.

From my own experience with awful metabolic syndrome (high blood pressure and ldl, low hdl, and insulin resistance with high diabetes risk), this is an incredibly difficult question to navigate. Low carb/keto is absolutely the answer to eliminating diabetes, but a high fat diet can raise ldl and bp (I found this out the hard way). I get my carbs from veggies, some berries, and a few high fiber keto products (all Mike the meter approved), and get some fats from avocados, walnuts, etc. I eat various plant proteins as well. It's restrictive, but it works well for me.

WOW ~ ! Thankyou so much Dennis - just to let this information sink in…wow. So sad a comment that the “experts” are still debating. Seriously. Many, many blessings to you and your lovely wife.

Fantastic diabetics info, thank you. The majority of T2D are elderly with no enough digestive enzymes for fatty diets; what are the options?

Another difference between the rats and humans is that the rats would have been type 1 diabetes (low insulin level) whereas most diabetic humans today are type 2 (high insulin level). that may affect diet/food preferences as well. Of course making the processed food like oreos and doritos hyper-palatable likely drowns out any signal our bodies may be sending us. As you said, though, either way, Mike the Meter won't be fooled! Thanks for this video Dennis!

I was pre diabetic. When I went on a keto diet that reveresed that state. Ive regained the weight eating too much sugar & carbs. Im back on low carb. I think that fat in the diet is satiating so I pass up sugar easier.

I've been on a low carb diet for almost 3 years and my HBA1C ranged from 5.4% (lowest) to 6.1% (highest). I find it hard to go below 5.4% and at present my A1C is at 5.7% again. I now envy people that are able to reverse their pre diabetic but not me. My LDL started rising after I became a low carber and I believed that's because I stopped eating oats, grains and those complex carbs as they would spike my BG. I went for a tread mill test which detected some negativity. An angiogram procedure that follows revealed a 55% blockage at 1 artery! 😢 Doctors put me on statins and told me to stop eating low carbs and take metformin if required. I 'm at a loss now as to which directions to take.

Eating a low carb diet for a long time has helped a great deal with A1C and weight loss. LDL and HDL are close to recommended levels but triglyceride levels have gone up significantly. Type 2 is just a hard road to travel.
