More videos on Digestion:

Today we’re going to talk about why fattier meat is easier to digest than lean meat. Some people may think they have a problem digesting red meat when the red meat they are consuming is just too lean.

If you’re going to consume ground beef, get the ground beef that’s 70-80%. If possible, also get grass-fed organic ground beef. The big reason why it’s easier to digest fattier hamburger meat is because of the fat.

The more fat that’s in the protein, the more delayed the digestion is. This means it sits in your small intestine longer, and the enzymes can do their work to help you digest the protein and the fat. If the protein is leaner, it goes through the digestive tract much faster.

As you age, you may want to add betaine hydrochloride to your meals (2-6). This can increase the acidity in your stomach and help you digest protein.

As you get older, you start losing your ability to make hydrochloric acid. This can create huge consequences not just for digesting protein but also when it comes to absorbing minerals and killing pathogens.

You are the original person I learned how to do keto from while watching your older videos. I've been keto over 4 yrs now. I lost over 155 pounds, do daily weigh in vids, and amazingly I got rid of 29 medically diagnosed diseases, off 11 medications. Most of those diseases were said to be incurable, but here I sit with them cured. I had to take a chemo pill everyday for the rest of my life, but haven't needed one for over 3.5 years now.

My mother never trimmed the fat completely from the beef that she bought. The soups or stews had always pieces of beef with cooked fat attached to pieces of meat. The Sunday soup had plenty of marrow bones and we feast on that delicious fat. I believe that the marrow from beef bones is excellent to the function of the brain.

Thank you doc! I have always advocated for pasture raised red meat for health even though there is a lot of biased bad science about it. We as a species have always eaten fatty red meat throughout evolution.

Fatty ground beef is not only cheaper but it's already mushed making it easier to chew, swallow, digest and absorb. It is also the leftover parts that contain more connective tissue and collagen much more abundant in glycine as well to maintain good methionine to glycine ratio. I always tell people to do ground beef over steak cuts for these reasons.

Soaking meat in vinegar before cooking it helps break down the proteins, making them more digestible.

My success story is just beginning as I’ve got lots of weight to lose and have lost ten pounds. I have been green juicing since April but recently have went totally gluten free, two low carb meals between 10AM and 2PM, with a high fat low carb snack around 5PM. My bp was running 130 to 140 over 90. This morning my bp is 124/76. I am 64.

I love this guys channel, he has so much good information. That being said everything he says isn’t the100% end all. Everyone’s body doesn’t react the same and some people have different needs. Do what works best for you.

Yeah, I can confirm that, I ate very lean and salted pork a few days ago and I had once-or-twice-in-lifetime constipation after that.

Ginger aids digestion too, I have been using quite a bit of it to season most of the meat and meat dishes that I cook.
