The number one safety tip you should promote is when you pick up a passenger always pull up about a hundred feet past the pickup point so that you see the writer coming up from behind you and if you get that spidey sense that goes off or if there's something sketchy about the person you can always pull away

As for silent rides - some people have speech impediments like stuttering or a language barrier.

My tips - income. This is not an employee job under rideshare guidelines. You are an independent contractor and are NOT guaranteed minimum wage. Think of it as waiting tables, slow you're not gonna make money, busy you will make money. Do not chase surges or prime time to the location. Do not drive around waiting for rides. Stay put. Confirm passengers upon pickup and wait for them to tell you their name, do not say Are you <name>? Ask them their name. Ask if they want it to be hotter, cooler, breezy, not breezy. It shows you care about their comfort. If there's a way they'd rather go than the GPS, do it. And finally, do not complain about how someone's driving. Your passengers don't need to hear it.

This was one of the best videos on how to start driving. Not 30 minutes long of somebody driving around. Loved the background. Got to find that app. I imagine its virtual unless he owns a TV station :)

First Lyft ride I ever had the guy was really drunk and wanted to fight me. I found out later he got kicked out of a concert for fighting people in the mosh pit.

Good video. You get right to the point and you make a long story short. Wish other drivers could follow your technique.

I drive for Lyft. It took awhile t learn all the features of the app. If there is a good video about that view it. Otherwise try to ask another Lyft driver about it. But don't worry, you can start without knowing everything. Read the info on the Lyft site. One tip: sometime I lose network connectivity. I just start driving and it usually connects quickly. A few time I had to turn off the app or even reboot my phone, Don't worry about that. You will not lose your information. When your app comes back up it will resume where you left off.

There's a feature on uber that says stop incoming requests, it puts you offline after the current ride. I've found its awesome for uber pools where it stops other requests coming in. Not the best for passengers but less of a headache. Great video!

I'm starting on Saturday... mostly out of desperation. I do however feel like I missed the boat and it's shitty now.

have something in your car that it is going to differentiate you from the rest.. ex a unique candy, music, beverage anything that is unique.. for me after a friend suggested it to me I put a charging station.. they love to have the ability to charge their devices whether that is a mobile phone or an electronic cigarette etc

Did my first 4 trips yesterday and it says my earnings are about $35. This was for 3.5 hours work so I am made about $10 an hour not taking into account gas and vehicle depreciation and wear and tear. I missed an exit and on ramp but did my best to just stay calm so passengers feel secure. I am going to try to get the Waze map to work today as the Uber navigation sucks donkey balls. I need to get in on some surge locations I think so I can make some real money.

"don't ask for 5 star ratings". Also, " please like, comment, subscribe"

I have a 4.9 rating and I wash my car every 2 weeks. Passengers are always in a rush especially when you fuck up. I see what you're saying but they still ding you. If you do make a mistake with navigation, give them 3 stars because you have a 99% chance they will do the same. Waze for me sucks, but it's up to you. Yes, have a phone mount, you are being an idiot by looking at your phone in your lap. Clean car? Hmm...Vacuum that bitch, make sure the windows are not smudgy, but forget about spending a ton of money with washes. Who cares if they are your first passenger? They will see that with the new Uber profile, however they will not cut you a break, believe that. Never ask them for advice. Just ask them if they're comfortable, NEVER SPEND MONEY on amenities because they will grade you on that and you will suffer. DON'T dress up, be comfortable. Most Uber drivers are fat and you, like me, don't want that belt cramming into your stomach. They don't rate you bad on how you're dressed, trust me! If they don't want to talk to you, you'll know. Their faces are buried into the phone and just leave them alone. You can't be out here for a social experience, your making money, forget about it. DON'T PLAY MUSIC!!! That's a can of worms you don't want to open. I have over 4, 000 rides, I know. YES!! Don't ask for a 5 star rating, they will play with you, don't ask for a tip either. If they don't tip, give them 4 stars. I don't have Uber POOL, I can't comment on it. Listen to him.

Thanks for doing this video! I'm about to head out for my first time tonight with both. The one thing I'm wondering aside from which navigation is best to use (Uber of course recommends their app which uses Google Maps, but I think Waze is much better especially since it gives you traffic camera lights, location of police officers many times and potential obstacles. Also it seems to have more new neighborhoods than what GMaps does. Also, I wanted to ask what your thoughts are on tools that allegedly help us drivers like Mystro and FarePilot. I read many reviews on them before even downloading and the general consensus seems to be that they can be very helpful as long as they're not glitching out or anything. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration!

Have any specific tips about being a new driver, PARTICULARLY in a new market on launch day?

another tip, be prepare some passengers might accuse you of being intoxicated and your account will be deactivated, no chance to defend yourself, you can argue all you want but they wont listen, you will get terminated and the passenger might get refund or free rides
