I need this video I almost never use string lines 😂 but I worked the last 9 months with a carpenter and he used string lines all the time 🤩!!

good job. BUT if you don't use a spacer on both ends example a nail [ both the same size] so when the string is tight there is a small space. you can remove the bow in the wood and over do it, and not know it. that little space lets you know you did it just right.

I have a deck thats 30yrs old that i just wanted to put new boards on. How can i tell if my joists are all even and flat? Having a super hard time with this. I subbed too btw. Hope you hit your goal.

Another tip for a you can always start at the house and work your way out. You just don't cut your Joyce and put your band board on until you're a couple rows away. Then you do your math Snap your chocoline cut your tails. Put your band board on you come out with a full board every time.

Its not a good idea with Trex or any other composite to drive 1 screw in and then skip a joist and put 1 screw in and then skip a joist .etc etc with the intentions of just getting the boards down and then coming back and driving the remaining screws b/c when put a tack 1 board like that its going to try to crown in between 32" between each screw. What that does is creates a wave effect down the board. Then you set another board down and do the same but b/c the board before it is crowned between the screws you're going to force it to follow that same profile and after you've got a few boards down you'll have a problem that can not be corrected without pulling all the boards up and starting over. If you do want to tack the boards down put 1 screw in every joist and put all of the screws on the same edge of the board. But skipping joists and driving screw is not a good idea.
