Underwear sold by thrift and secondhand stores (following regulations) must be brand new in package when they receive it. They usually split up the packaging to either give more people the opportunity to buy a couple pairs, or to try to make as much money off one package as possible. My local goodwill also buys surplus freight, but their underwear and sock prices are almost equal to buying from walmart so I just buy from walmart.

When they grow so fast that you have to buy new clothes every 3 months - this is the way to do it. Too small stuff goes back to goodwill (thanks for the clothes rental). Brand new clothes were for the start of school or a birthday present or new pj's and unders from Santa. At Easter we got a new summer hat & sometimes a dress with it.

Clearance clothing at most stores can be even cheaper than good will. This time of year is also good for community clothing give aways.

Something that might help the wallet that hads helped us; most local libraries will have a toddler time which is great for littles to shake it out. Then we get to check out books so we're not reading the same things so the time. You're doing awesome!

My Bathroom Break rule when shopping, traveling, etc: If one person needs to go, everyone must try.

My kids were not thrilled at first but as they got older, it was just routine. The number of breaks decreased as soon as we did it. I can only sit in a car for 2hrs so many times my stretch breaks turned into bonus bathroom breaks.

My son took off as a speedy toddler in Meridian, Ms. He was short enough that he could just walk under the racks of clothes. We were looking every where. Finally a sharp eyed sales lady saw him and caught him. He was a bit too young to shop alone. Thank goodness for alert sales persons.

Hey just a tip, when buying thrifted clothes, especially for kids, using something that will strip any residue from the fabric like downy rinse and refresh is really good and is the best way to ensure that the clothes your buying for your kids are safe and like new, it also removes any odor and makes clothes smell amazing! You can find a 3 pack at Bjs for a good price. You’re doing great!
