I use to use craftsman exclusively, however they have quit honoring the lifetime warranty. A couple of years ago, I tried to take in a ratchet and got the run around. After the second store that sells craftsman said the numbers have to match and they don't have that number, of course because the broken one is from about 1975. I went to Harbor Freight and started replacing broken tools with Pittsburgh. The Quinn screwdrivers are better than craftsman ever was. I swapped out 2 broken Pittsburgh wrenches today no hassle walked in and cashier said go get a new one

I have worked on tractors, trailers, and reefers for 16 years now in a Fleet environment. When I first started Pittsburg was not good so I had to go with higher quality entering the tool trucks better known as the devil's den. They were convenient for warranty but you were going to pay dearly. It was appealing rather than having to drive to Sears to warranty Craftsman. Fast forward to now the tool trucks are not only pushing their own stuff they're overcharging for Dewalt, Milwaukee, and have even seen Pittsburg bit sets that are $10 at HF being marked up to $100. I'm not even kidding. Today, I don't buy from the trucks much at all unless it's Redback boots or some specialty tool that's reasonably priced. HF is light years better than 16 years ago. You get a lifetime warranty with better stuff than years past and it turns nuts and bolts. If you need to warranty Snappy, Mac, or Matco you have to wait for them to show up if they do that week or mail it to the company warranty dept. If it turns nuts and bolts and does the job then who cares what name is on it. You can't buy skills. I know some techs that can use junk tools and run circles around the guy with prestigious tools.

Good review. I need to replace my 3/8 ratchet so this review was right on time. Thank you!

I have the 3/8s icon flex head and its my favorite ratchet. I do have the flex head pittsburgh pro 1/2 and it feel very nice. The pittsburgh pro stuff has been pretty good. The 3/8s deep sockets are awesome too.

What about your time and money driving to HF to swap out two bad Pittsburgh ratchets? The Icon is the better value in the long run. If Craftsman was still honoring their lifetime warranty then the choice would be quite simple, CRAFTSMAN all the way..

The backwards switch between icon and Pittsburg can mess with your OCD. They’re both good tools.

Icon has a higher grade steel so it doesn’t need a thick of shaft. Good video

I have all sizes of the regular handle Pittsburgh pro flex head ratchets and besides the selector switch being in the wrong configuration than pretty much every other ratchet made they are great ratchets. I want to get the long handle craftsman v series flex ratchets as an upgrade but the Pittsburgh pros are nice and the backdrag is very light. The only icon tools I own are the twin grip knock off pliers and I bought the 1/2” impact wobble adapter and extension for $20 missing the shortest extension and those two tools are awesome. I’m pretty excited for icons revamp of the ratchets maybe I’ll get one then but it’s not going to be announced till the next sema show. And in still waiting for the slip joint talon grip knock offs to arrive.

Just bore the holes out if you need to fit thicker tools

Habor freight automotive hand tools have gone the craftsman route. Way too expensive. I have swapped to tools off Amazon myself.

Icon is better value. Icon can last you a lifetime if you use them how they're supposed to be used.

Any rachet with a big padded handle is garbage. No real mechanic would want that big clumsy handle on any tool.
