My New Icon split beam torque wrench from Harbor Freight!

I picked up a new Icon Split beam torque wrench from @harborfreight this weekend as I needed something that could torque my lower control arms I installed on the Mustang when under load. My 3/4 drive Pittsburgh pro that I've had for over 10 years is just too bulky for that job.

Really impressed with how easy it is to adjust the torque and the way it fits into tight places with that little bit of flex head action is perfect.

This is definitely one that's worth checking out and it goes for about $140

I definitely wish I got this instead of my regular click type wrench. Found out about it a month after my 90 day return window ended 🤦

This looks very similar to the snap on torque wrenches, which are actually made by a company called precision instruments. I would not be surprised at all to learn that the icon is also made by them and the only difference is the 90 tooth head

I bought the 1/2, 3/8, and 1/4 Pittsburgh Torque Wrenches on sale like 1-2 years ago for $10 EACH 💀 the best part is that the price has increased but they still exchange them no problem! I’m looking to grab this ICON one once I start my career

How do you know they’re keeping their torque accuracy? You’re testing them?

that looks nice. I have the digital Craftsman 3/8 and 1/2 they have both been great (got them on sale at Lowe's). The pittsburgh click style has failed on me twice. The icon looks nice though

Any techs actually torque suspension parts? I only actually torque anything internal, wheels, and wheel bearing assamblys. And brakes. Other than that they just get German specs.

I’ve got buddies that’ve gotten some random icon tools to mess with the snapon salesman and they’ve had good luck so far

You think that 3/4 has zero issues. Have you ever had it recalibrated

I have that exact same torque wrench, dressed as snap on, cost an arm and a nut, but had it for a decade, ,

Is it any good? My boss says to only get torque tools on the tool truck but everyone says this is super accurate and worth it

I use mine regularly. I MUCH prefer the flip lock style to the twist adjust style. Its a lot faster to set target torque.
Its fine for basic stuff like lug nuts or brakes. For internal engine work, like head gaskets, you're going to want a much higher end tool aka digital torque wrenches.
Imagine having to redo a 10 hour job for free cuz your torque wrench was wrong. Yeah no. I'll pass
