Eggshell + Toothpaste: What Happens to the Shell?

We’ve seen this experiment done on social media and it worked! But, the internet isn’t always right… I wanted to try this viral trick to see what happens when you cover an egg with toothpaste for 24 hours. Does it completely dissolve the shell, leaving a clear gel ball or
will the eggshell still be intact?
