They say the best way to season a cast iron pan is to put it in the oven. But as we can see from the Fire Marshall visiting our house from all the smoke, that is not true. I propose a better solution - it is cleaner, faster, and more effective.

good little channel you have here, not cleaning it is the no1 reason i've turned to copper+tin but now i am thinking of "how can i know if it's really pure tin" got some lead detector kits but they turn pink sometimes and so now will try spraying in a hydrochloric acid solution:)

Saved this video for later. I've been thinking about doing the same thing. I can't stand the smoke inside the house either.
I have a Char-Griller Akorn (cheap Kamado style grill). I've havn't taken it to 500+ degrees yet though.

I'm gonna have to get me one of those glass lids and the small skillet that can work as a lid.

Great video and great seasoning method. But with pans like that, what business do you have owning teflon?
