When my kids were learning to drive, I made it clear that if they ever got a flat tire in a dangerous place, they were to continue driving on it until they were somewhere safe. I told them a tire and wheel can be replaced, but I can't replace them.

You can drive with a flat tire. Worse thing that will happen is you'll damage the rim. Far less dangerous then pulling over when someone is following you in the middle of the night.

In story two it's crazy that after all the signs her dog was giving her of a problem outside she wasn't more alert to possible danger. Then she sees a man looking in her window and her response is to make sure the blinds are closed but not to check that all windows and doors are locked and immediately call the police?! Then she just goes to bed? Even when she woke up, her dog was staring at the bedroom door AND she heard men's voices from inside her residence she didn't call the police right away. Wow.

Story 2 and 3 is why you immediately call the cops. If I saw someone press their face against my window, I’d call the cops and request a vehicle stay outside my house all night. If I saw a back door mysteriously open to a neighboring store, I’d A) call the store and if I got no answer then B) call the cops. Don’t go walking in cause you don’t know who’s on the other side and if they have a weapon.

Person in the first story should have kept driving. You might damage the car but it's better than being robbed and beaten.

Considering the driver in Story #1 was only 4 or 5 blocks from home when the tire went flat, I’m surprised they didn’t just drive on the rim. That might have given them a better chance to get out of the car and into the safety of their home before those men attacked. A pretty frightening experience either way though!

The person in the third story is super lucky. If you see something weird, don’t go investigate it, and DEFINITELY don’t alert a potential criminal to your presence by calling out into the dark where you hear something weird.

It is so sad that the guy from story 2 had to live with a psychological dent because of that experience. Always feeling that he's not alone because he didnt hear the other man leaving. I can understand how that leaves a permanent mark.
