Number 3 is the ONLY proper way to coil cables.

I've been using technique no. 3 for some years now - it puts a lot less stress on the internal wiring :)

No. 2 is quite handy for ropes and medium thick cables

Nooo! I work as an AV technician, and if I wrapped cable like they recommend in this job I would be ridiculed and chastised. Over an under is the only proper method. (Don't throw it like they say, it will break the caps sometimes.)

I've used technique #2 for years! Taught my husband how to do this when we got married. Love how it stores and unfolds neatly. Haven't had any issues with damage or stress to extension cords up to 50ft long.

1: Wrong!
2: Wrong!
3: The only proper way to coil a cable!

Is the Lowe's selling technique to get as many people to ruin as many cables as possible so people keep coming back to buy more? That elbow wrap made me physically ill!! LOL

Over - Under is the only acceptable method.
Any other method, you will be spending hours untangling. But if you are billing hourly, tangle away

Technique #1 will ruin your extension cord over the years. #2 also “stresses “ the chord, but not so much like #1 // the only proper way to wrap your chords technique #3. I use technique #3 for several years now, and never had any issues with it. And once’s you’ve got the “trick”, it’s as fast as the other techniques.

*Hi there! Off topic BUT If you ever do another The Weekender would LOVE to be surprised by the end with the end results as opposed to it being already revealed in the thumbnail or begging of the video! Thanks! Love the show!*

Hmm... This video is suspiciously close (and after) the recent video by the Essential Craftsman. Might be a coincidence though

Over/under is the only way if you don’t like wrecking your cables.

Always under over for me. No one is allowed to wrap my cords unless they know how to.

Why are people still advocating for Braid Wrapping? That damages the cords, even Elbow Wrap is slightly bad, especially over the long run. Over-Under is the only good one.

Edit: for other people saying 1 is worse than 2, it depends. Most people who use Braid Wrapping hangs it up and if you do that then gravity will pull on the top loops worse than on the bottom ones. So yeah, Braid Wrapping can be much worse.

LOWE'S. NO!!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! The ONLY option is the over under. Don't teach people the wrong

Why would you show ppl how to do it THE WRONG WAY (#1)?? The idiocy of corporate morons. I used to work there. The “pros” at the “pro desk” didn’t know how to figure decks. They could tell you what we sold, but couldn’t tell you what it was used for. If you don’t know what the “CDX” classification of plywood is THEN YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS SELLING IT TO SOMEONE.

Never use the elbow wrap technique. It ruins your cord and shows your rookie experience.

To the Lowe’s ATTENTION: Lowe’s Marketing and Merchandising Department
What a garbage idea to start putting displays in the middle of the aisle! You are a home improvement store with oversized shopping carts, how do you expect people to get around your displays?!
Spend some time getting your check out stands updated and organizing your products. It’s always a mess in electrical with missing price tags.
Stop spending time on what color to make a sign and more time on getting some flow around the store. Restocking and general cleaning up would be helpful. Not COVID cleaning, I mean removing the empty boxes that you pulled product out of and sweep up the floor.
If I left a job site like you leave your stores, I wouldn’t have a reason to shop at your store any more!
