As much as SUVs and crossovers are becoming more popular in the Western region, there is still a love for pickup trucks that never ends. There are people who love pickup trucks, especially those who love going off-road or into the wilderness. But truth be told, pickup trucks are some of the most practical cars. And when you come across others like the Ram trucks, they are simply life-changing. Not so long ago, Ram introduced the 2024 Rampage. This is a truck that will change how we see pickup trucks. But what’s new with the 2024 Rampage? Let’s find out, shall we?
Hello everyone, and welcome back to our channel. Today, we will look at the 2024 Ram Rampage and find out what it brings. For the longest time, the full-size Ram 1500 has been a favorite pickup truck for many. And with the rumors of Ram offering a smaller pickup truck, many people are interested. The Ram Rampage, also known as the Ram 1200 in other markets, has also been rumored for the US. And not only that, but it is set to give other compact pickups, such as the Ford Maverick and the Hyundai Santa Cruz, a run for their money. This large truck is available in Brazil, but the all-wheel-drive Rampage is said to appear in the US as soon as 2024.
According to Ram, more than 800 South American engineers and technicians worked on the Rampage development project. And in total, it is said to have taken more than 1.2 million hours of development. The entire pickup is based on the Small, Wide unibody architecture that underpins the Jeep Compass and Commander.
The 2024 pickup truck has a larger grille, modern LED lighting units, muscular fenders, and rugged proportions. All these amazing designs add to the strong road presence that the car offers. And even though the surfacing on the profile and the squared-off wheel arches are all similar to the mechanically related Jeep Compass, all the sheet metal is unique to the Rampage. Something else that makes the Ram Rampage stand out is the US flag graphics on the LED taillights, which proudly exhibit the country of origin.
The powertrain options are one of the most attractive features of the 2024 Ram Rampage. What Ram has done with these powertrains is just amazing. The 2024 Ram Rampage will come with petrol and diesel options. The first one is a turbocharged 2.0-liter Hurricane four-cylinder petrol engine that comes straight from the Wrangler. This engine can produce up to 298 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. After this powertrain is a 2.0-liter Multijet Turbodiesel that is capable of producing up to 170 PS of power and 380 Nm of torque. In these two cases, the power is transmitted directly to all four wheels. This transmission is assisted by the 9-speed automatic gearbox, giving it a lot of leverage over other pickup trucks.
The sportiest variant of the Rampage, which is the R/T, comes with a petrol engine that can take the truck from 0 to 62 mph in about 6.9 seconds. This variant also has a top speed of 220 kilometers per hour, which is roughly 137 mph. The Laramie and Rebel also have the same engine, but they sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 7.1 seconds. Their speedometer stops at 210 kilometers per hour, which is about 130 mph. We can expect the diesel engine on the Rampage to be less powerful and slower, doing the same sprint in 10.9 seconds. This diesel engine also comes with a top speed of 186 kilometers per hour.
This unibody architecture is combined with McPherson struts at the front and multi-link suspension at the rear. However, it has also been fitted with a new Rampage-specific setup that prioritizes comfort over anything else. The sportier R/T comes with stronger springs and shocks and is lower by about 10mm compared to other variants. It rides on 19-inch alloy wheels shod with 235/55R19 tires. As for the more adventurous Rebel, it rides on 235/65R17 all-terrain tires, while the luxurious Laramie comes with 235/60R18 wheels. All the petrol-powered Rampage trims come with ventilated discs larger than those on the diesel-powered Rampage.
The 2024 Ram Rampage is definitely going to give some of the more famous trucks, like the Ford Ranger, a run for their money. It will be produced at the Stellantis Goiana plant in Pernambuco, Brazil. And we are sure that when it is officially launched, everyone will fall in love with it.
