2024 Ram Rampage Revealed in South America

Unsurprisingly, the Rampage's proportions exhibit more similarities with the Fiat Toro rather than the Ram 1500 that served as its inspiration. However, this does not hinder the new pickup truck from establishing its own distinctive style. Stellantis, recognizing the significance of this venture, allocated a substantial R$1.3 billion ($248.5 million at the current exchange rate) towards the development of this remarkable vehicle. It is worth noting that some comparable projects demand budgets exceeding $1 billion, making this investment a true bargain. Stellantis proudly announced that a team of over 800 engineers and technicians dedicated a cumulative 1.2 million hours to the Rampage's creation.

With the highly anticipated debut, we are now privy to the precise dimensions of this novel pickup truck. The Rampage measures 5.03 meters in length, 1.89 meters in width, 1.78 meters in height, and boasts a wheelbase of 2.99 meters. Although these figures slightly deviate from those initially disclosed by Autos Segredos, it is worth highlighting that the Brazilian website did not provide information regarding ground clearance, which stands at 264 millimeters. However, the accuracy of Autos Segredos' predictions regarding the engines and transmission remains commendable.

As for the powertrain options, the Rampage offers two alternatives. The first is a 2-liter turbodiesel engine, which delivers 168 horsepower and a torque of 280 pound-feet. The second option is the 2-liter GME engine, also known as the Hurricane 4 for those well-versed in its nomenclature. Initially, this engine will exclusively run on gasoline, generating an impressive 268 horsepower and a torque of 295 pound-feet. Stellantis has expressed its intention to enable ethanol-burning capabilities in the future. Notably, a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive come as standard features.

The turbodiesel variants boast a maximum cargo capacity of 2,237 pounds, while the gasoline versions are limited to 1,653 pounds. Moreover, the bed exhibits an ample volumetric capacity of 34.6 cubic feet. Although pre-sales are slated to commence on June 22, prospective owners will need to exercise patience, as deliveries are expected to begin in August, necessitating a wait of over a month.

Journalists fortunate enough to test drive the Rampage have unanimously praised its surprising interior luxury and exhilarating acceleration capabilities. Some even claimed that the Rampage stands as the swiftest Ram truck globally. However, I regrettably lacked sufficient time to personally verify this assertion. Consequently, I will rely on the information provided by Stellantis, which asserts that the Rampage reigns as the fastest pickup truck in Brazil, the primary market for its initial release. Additionally, other Latin American countries will have the opportunity to acquire this exceptional vehicle, and there are rumors circulating that the United States may also become a recipient of the Rampage.

One thing remains certain: the new Rampage is anticipated to surpass its Dodge predecessor both in terms of longevity in the market and sales volume. As previously mentioned, Brazil spearheaded the development of the Rampage and will serve as the first manufacturing hub. Nevertheless, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and numerous other South American nations are projected to gain access to this new pickup truck, with Mexico included on this extensive list. The remaining query pertains to whether Mexico will import the Rampage from Brazil or initiate local production to meet domestic demands and cater to the US market as well.

I don’t understand why the majority of small truck design insist on having that slanted down look with the rear way up in the air. In my opinion, it looks terrible. Seems like only Toyota and Nissan really know how to design small trucks.

I loved my 1983 Rampage! It was a great first truck/car.

The interior looks really good but the exterior has a funky look.

It's literally a Jeep compass with a longer wheelbase a restyled interior and different rear suspension.

Same base as Fiat Toro, Jeep Renegade, Compass and Commander. So basically it's a plush Fiat Toro.

I'm hearing it's heading for Australia. It'll fit in nicely but will need a 4 and 6 cylinder diesel in order to compete.

Looks like a midsize but with a even smaller bed than the Ridgeline, doesn't look as small as the maverick and Santa Cruz

I owned an original Rampage. I made the mistake of trading it and within hours it was back on the streets. Years ago, I cut out an article on an auto show that featured a Rampage concept. Much better that this new thing. 2 door. back anfdfront seats were sto & go. Hemi V8. Five foot cargo bed. Underbed cargo storage accessed by hatch behind rear bumper. Tailgate functions as a loading ramp. Power operated mid-gate.

Hope that doesn’t come to America! Looks like Honda and Ford had a baby . Compared to the new Tacoma and Chevy it’s already not competing. It’s fighting for third place between Hondas truck and the Ford Ranger
